Puente de Vadillos offers several clearly distinct places to visit when planning a trip. The PR-CU 92 Ruta del embalse del Molino de Chincha starts in the town; the Museo Regional de los Gancheros y la Madera is located on Calle Llanos de la Huerta. Other highlights include the Mirador de la Ermita de las Angustias, which overlooks the beginning of the Hoz de Beteta, and the VĂa ferrata de la hoz de Beteta. This gives you a choice of different options: a linear route, a museum visit, a viewpoint, and a via ferrata.

PR-CU 92: from the river to the dam

The PR-CU 92 runs along the right bank of the Río Cuervo northeast to the dam of the Embalse del Molino de Chincha. It is part of the province’s certified trail network. The linear route is 4.5 kilometers long and rated as low difficulty. Its route shape sets it apart from a circular trail; take this into account when adding it to your day’s plans. Starting in town and ending at the dam gives the route a clear direction.

A dense pine forest provides shade along the entire route and also surrounds the reservoir’s waters. The forest and water thus shape both the route and the landscape around the reservoir. The dam’s construction also relates to its surroundings: the Presa del Molino de Chincha was built using a narrow limestone passage considered unique and exceptionally beautiful. The route therefore passes through a landscape that includes not only the river and forest, but also a striking structure.

Museum and cultural highlight

The Museo Regional de los Gancheros y la Madera is located on Calle Llanos de la Huerta in Puente de Vadillos and is open to the public. It focuses on ethnography and anthropology. These subject areas add a cultural dimension alongside the forest and riverbank landscapes of the PR-CU 92. If you would like to include both nature and culture in your trip, you can plan the museum and the route as separate destinations. Public access may change; check before visiting.

Viewpoint and via ferrata

The Mirador de la Ermita de las Angustias is a little over one kilometer from Puente de Vadillos and offers a view of the beginning of the Hoz de Beteta. The distance is approximate; the viewpoint looks out over a clearly identified section of the gorge. The VĂa ferrata de la hoz de Beteta, by contrast, is rated as medium difficulty, K2/K3.

From Puente de Vadillos, the via ferrata can be reached via the CM-210. Parking may be available nearby, before the bridge over the RĂo Guadiela; check local conditions before setting out. The PR-CU 92 and the via ferrata differ in both type and rating: the former is a linear route rated as low difficulty, while the latter is an activity rated as medium, K2/K3. The Mirador, meanwhile, is a viewpoint at an approximate distance, overlooking the beginning of the gorge.
