If you are considering Puigverd d'Agramunt as a travel destination, you will encounter historic buildings, archaeological finds and connections to the Ruta del Sió. The sights offer different ways to explore the area: El castell and the churches reflect its architectural and local history, the mosaics tell the story of the Roman villa, and the route and riverbank provide orientation through specific points. This allows you to decide before your trip whether to focus on architecture, archaeology or landscape.

Historic buildings and architecture

El castell is in the upper part of Puigverd d'Agramunt, next to the parish church of Sant Pere. It is documented from 1061 and was designated a Bé Cultural d'Interès Nacional (BCIN) in 1985. The two dates mark different things: 1061 is the documentary record, while 1985 is the cultural designation. If you are interested in local history, the castle provides a specific point of reference in time and stands alongside another building with a history of its own.

The l'Església parroquial de Sant Pere is a large neoclassical building, constructed around the 18th century over an older Romanesque church. The rose window illuminates the interior, while the façade is distinguished by its curved lines. l'Ermita de Sant Miquel displays a different architectural form: the early Romanesque chapel is dated approximately to the 11th or 12th century and has a single-nave interior. The comparison leads from the large neoclassical parish church to a chapel in the early Romanesque style, with a clearly described interior layout.

Roman mosaics and local history

At La vil·la romana dels reguers, remains of polychrome mosaics from the 4th century were discovered in 1961 during agricultural work. Three mosaics in total were found in different rooms. Their motifs are geometric and floral, as well as figurative, with animal depictions. The discovery year, dating and motifs give this subject a different emphasis from the architectural history of the churches and the castle: here, the focus is on archaeological finds and their ornamental design.

The Molí del Senyor, also known as Molí del Siscà, is another of the area's designated cultural heritage sites. It is near the Sió River and is designated a Bé Cultural d'Interès Local, meaning a local cultural heritage site of interest. Puigverd d'Agramunt thus brings together different historical points of reference: a documented castle, religious buildings in different styles, mosaics from a Roman villa and a locally designated heritage site by the river.

The Ruta del Sió and the river landscape

Section TRAM 5 of the Ruta del Sió runs from Agramunt to Puigverd d'Agramunt and ends at Parc del Riu Sió. The route description identifies the old town along Carrer Abadia to Plaça Mestre Navall as a point of interest. Puigverd d'Agramunt also has an access point to the Ruta del Sió at the picnic area in Parc del Riu Sió. These details offer different points of reference: the park is the endpoint of the described section and a named access point, while the street and square provide a specific connection to the old town.

The area around the Peixera de Puigverd is part of a riverside landscape. Downstream, on the Pla dels Horts de la Mata, bioengineering measures have been carried out to support the regeneration of the riverside forest and improve river drainage. The landscape description thus covers both the riverbank around the Peixera and measures located farther downstream, with specific aims for the riverside forest and the river.
