Navafría offers clear options for planning a stay: mountain trails in the Sierra de Guadarrama, recreational areas with natural swimming pools, and cultural attractions related to copperworking and traditional events. If you’re looking for a hotel in Navafría, you can first decide whether nature, water or local history will shape your stay. The trails and local landmarks make these interests easy to distinguish.

Hiking Between Forest and Summit

The town lies below the Pinar de Navafría, named after Navafría, in the Sierra de Guadarrama. The El Chorro–Puerto de Navafría route follows the Río Cega valley through the pine forest to Puerto de Navafría. The valley, forest and mountain pass shape the course of this trail. Near Navafría, the Río Cega also runs alongside the Cañada Real Soriana Occidental; the river and this historic route run side by side here.

The route to Pico El Nevero starts at Puerto de Navafría on the SG-612 road at kilometer 11.5; you can drive to the starting point and park at Puerto de Navafría. Pico El Nevero is the highest peak in the Montes Carpetanos and the ninth-highest peak in the national park. The two routes therefore offer different experiences: El Chorro–Puerto follows the valley to the pass, while the Nevero route starts there and leads to the summit.

Recreational Areas and Swimming Pools

The Cañada Real Soriana Occidental section from Collado Hermoso to Navafría leads to the natural swimming pool at Las Charcas. The Las Charcas recreational area has natural swimming pools, a bar with a terrace and toilets. As these facilities may change, check their current status before your visit.

The El Chorro recreational area is about two kilometers from Navafría. It has picnic facilities, restrooms, parking and a natural swimming pool; some facilities may be operated seasonally.

Copperworking and Events

The Martinete de Navafría dates back to 1700 and was used for working copper. This specific connection to copper processing broadens the picture of Navafría beyond its mountain landscape and makes local history an attraction in its own right.

Traditional crafts also feature at the Feria de Artesanía de la Sierra: the Asociación de Mujeres de Navafría organizes the event, where craftspeople and visitors come together around traditional trades. The fair is held every year. If you’d like to plan your stay around it, check the dates in that year’s program.

The program for the 2026 Fiestas en Honor a San Lorenzo included concerts, charangas, open-air dances, a peñas parade, traditional games and competitions from August 7 to 12. The program may vary in subsequent years.
