Discover Noáin: Gardens, Architecture and Culture
Accommodation in Noáin
A stay in Noáin can focus on gardens, architectural history or local excursion routes. The daily Line 16 connection to the centre of Pamplona may also play a part in your travel plans. Check the timetable and stops separately.
Gardens and Tours at Parque de los Sentidos
Parque de los Sentidos comprises five themed garden areas: an English, French, Japanese, Mediterranean and edible garden. Their names reflect the variety of the site, from different gardening traditions to growing food. A central pond serves as a landmark, from which the garden areas can be reached. The park also has a viewpoint with far-reaching panoramic views. You can plan your visit around the garden themes or the views across the surrounding area.
Lorenea, an interpretation centre for organic gardening and vegetable growing, is located in the park. It also houses a permanent exhibition on these topics in the green spaces of Noáin–Elortzibar. Lorenea is also the visitor reception point for Parque de los Sentidos. Two guided tours of the park are offered: a 60-minute tour of the garden areas and a 75-minute option that also explains the bioclimatic house, Lorenea. If you plan to take a tour, check its availability before your visit.
Aqueduct and Iglesia de San Miguel
The Acueducto de Noáin was inaugurated in 1790 as part of a water supply system running from the springs near Subiza to Pamplona. It was 1,250 metres long and had 97 arches. The largest arches measured 18 metres high and 8.5 metres wide. The structure is recognised as a cultural asset and is considered a characteristic example of Neoclassical architecture in Navarre. The figures for its length and arches convey the scale of the structure; its historic function links Noáin to the water supply system to Pamplona.
Iglesia de San Miguel also brings together several architectural periods. The Gothic church dates from the 14th century and has a single nave, a polygonal apse and a ribbed vault divided into three sections. Its exterior features a Gothic tower with its original Romanesque bell gable structure and an 18th-century portico sheltering a Gothic portal. The chancel, built in the 16th century, is decorated with human heads, angels, grapes, birds and wild boars. Gothic elements, the older bell gable structure and the later portico stand side by side at the church.
Routes and Travel Planning
The “Excursión de Noáin a Zulueta” route runs from Noáin via the old Camino Real and the N-240 to Zulueta, then returns to Noáin. Noáin is therefore both the starting point and the destination of this route. Another local route, “Excursión de Yárnoz a Imárcoain”, also ends in Noáin. The difference is practical for planning: Noáin is both the start and finish of the Zulueta route, while the other route ends in Noáin. Check road conditions and route markers locally.
Line 16 of the Comarca de Pamplona Regional Public Transport service connects Noáin with the centre of Pamplona every day. Check the timetable and stops separately. Cultural events in Noáin include the Fiestas de San Miguel, celebrated in honour of Saint Michael; specific festival dates are not provided here.
