Plan Your Routes and Journey

Three types of routes are particularly relevant for a stay in Agarone: historic village trails, the hilly network of Percorsi Benessere, and a longer hike towards Cugnasco-Gerra and Pianrestello. There are also individual reminders of local history. When looking for a hotel in Agarone, you can organise your plans by route type and timeframe: would you like to explore trails in the village, plan fitness activities, or go on a hike lasting several hours?

In the 2026 timetable, bus route 62.322 connects Tenero, Gordola, Agarone, and Medoscio. Check the current timetable before travelling if you plan to take the bus.

The Percorsi Benessere are a free network of hilly trails for fitness activities in the surrounding area. The network starts and ends at Via Medoscio; information boards and dedicated signs mark the way. These details provide a practical framework for planning: the network is designed for activities on hilly trails, while the boards and signs help with navigation.

Distinguish Village Trails from the Hike

The trails described within Agarone have different profiles. Sentée dal Sasséll runs from eastern Agarone almost level to Fontanáscia, where it joins the road of the same name. Sentée di Crestítt takes a different route: it connects Via Vaslina with Via Agarone, and its lower section consists of a steep staircase. This difference in route is useful when comparing the trail descriptions with your own plans. Sentée di Rüngh runs from Via Agarone, via a staircase in the eastern part of Agarone, to Sentée di Fontái.

The Strécc d’Agarói are also trails within Agarone; they are paved with cobblestones and granite slabs. The historic trail er Carèe di Ciossètt ran from Agarone to Gordola before the driveable road was built in 1923–1924. For these historic trails, check current trail conditions before setting out.

For a longer outing, the Agarone–Cugnasco-Gerra–Pianrestello hiking trail starts in Agarone and leads towards Cugnasco-Gerra via Sentee Piatòm and Sentee Berögna. It crosses the Riarena River and, near Pianrestello, climbs through a forest along Sentiero Brancadella. Along the way, you may get a view of Lake Maggiore; visibility depends on conditions. The tour information, updated on 8 April 2026, gives a round-trip distance of 5 km, an elevation gain of 437 metres, and an estimated duration of 2.5 to 3 hours. The duration is an estimate; check current trail conditions before starting.

Chapel and Oil Press

Capèla di Dázzi is located on the old cart road between Agarone and Gordola. The chapel contains a painting of the Madonna and Child dating from 1595; it was restored in 1945 and 2000. The site thus brings together two specific historical details: the route of an earlier connection and a dated work of art with two restorations. Check current access arrangements before visiting.

Torchio di Agarone is an oil press built in the 17th century and bearing the year 1610. The building consists of stone masonry and has a roof made of stone slabs. The press is still completely intact, but no longer functional.
