In the near future hotels in Abu Dhabi will be presented to its guests in an updated form. More precisely, the update will be devoted to the classification. Abu Dhabi plans to introduce a new classification system for hotels in the first half of 2011.

Tourism Authority of Abu Dhabi ADTA, which will determine the quality of hotels according to the new system, is preparing to begin testing the first hotel in August 2010. Representatives of the Authority note that the classification will affect each hotel in Abu Dhabi, regardless of its present status and level. Also, the stars of the new system will receive tourist apartments in Abu Dhabi.

For hotels and apartments will be provided its own categories. So hotels in Abu Dhabi will be classified by the star system - from 1 to 5 stars. At the same time, the apartments will be awarded by one of three categories: standard, superior and deluxe. For the first phase of the classification Tourism Authority of Abu Dhabi has identified 49 hotels and 49 apartment complexes that will be certified under the new system over the next two months.

Creation of a new classification system for hotels in Abu Dhabi took at least two years. The authorities of the emirate believe that the current system may well become a standard at least in the region. The new classification provides a number of special parameters, which provide for the latest trends in the definition of quality of hotels. These include such indicators as environmental friendliness, accessibility for people with disabilities, etc. For each class of hotel are developed detailed regulations and clear standards.

The system provides the definition of the quality of hotel by points. The level of the hotel will be determined on a scale from 0 to 900 points, where each of the services will have each its own weight. Also, for each class of hotels is provided a minimum set of criteria for obtaining a certain number of stars.
