In Moscow in the next couple of years will appear at least 3,900 new hotel rooms. This number is mentioned in the projects of new hotels to be built or already under construction in the Russian capital.

According to the report of the American marketing agency STR Global, hotels in Moscow on the projected number of rooms occupy third place in Europe. Among recent high-profile projects in the hotel market in Moscow is hotel complex at Vnukovo airport, which will be created within the program of modernizing the airport.

First place in the ranking of STR Global, this time won London hotels. Capital of the United Kingdom, which in 2012 will host the Olympics, shows one of the highest rates of building hotels in the world. Already, the number of hotel rooms in London that are either just designed, or are actively being built, according to STR Global is more than 9700. Second place is occupied by the German capital Berlin. In Berlin, the total number of hotel rooms in development is amounted to 4.469.

Global hotel market is still far from stability, despite optimistic forecasts of several hotel chains and an increase in construction of hotels in China and India. Hotels in Europe show a decline that is evidenced by the policies of many large European hotel chains. Thus, the giant Accor had to get rid of much of its European portfolio in order to carry out large-scale expansion in the markets of Southeast Asia and India.

In the Old World, perhaps, only Britain can be called a rapidly growing hotel market. The report of STR Global provides for the figures of more than 28,000 designed hotel rooms. The report says that 10,000 hotel rooms in Britain are in varying degrees of construction.

In total in Europe STR Global counted more than 120,000 hotel rooms that are either planned or under construction.
