Transnational hotel giant Marriott International will not provide in its new hotels for the viewing of adult movies. This decision will affect those hotels that Marriott plans to open in the next few years.
As reported by USA Today, Marriott decided to refuse from adult video, replacing the function of paid channel in TV menu with special function of viewing video in the Internet. New changes will be applied primarily for hotels in the U.S.
Until recently, showing of pornographic films in the rooms for payment for each film was very profitable service that is still provided by many hotel chains in the world. At the same time, the debates about such possibility in the hotel, where stop travelers with children, have been conducted for a very long time.
However, most likely, the main reason for the Marriott to refuse from adult video in new rooms is saving. The point is that revenue from paid "adult films" each year is decreasing. Business travelers prefer to have all the fun with them: on iPods or portable DVDs.
According to one of the largest consultancies of the world in the hotel industry - PKF Hospitality - hotel room revenues from adult films decreased by 39% compared with the previous decade.
It is expected that Marriott will not be the only U.S. hotel company, which will refuse from porno in their new rooms. It is likely that one of the largest TV providers for hotels, LodgeNet, in 2013 intends to refuse from porno in their packages. Among LodgeNet clients is another well-known hotel monster - Hilton. So it is possible that similar actions can be expected from the main competitor of Marriott.
