Bogoso: Markets, Yam Festival and Hotels

Bogoso is the capital of the Prestea Huni-Valley District Assembly. Its administrative function places Bogoso at the district assembly level, while the market and festival offer pointers to economic life and travel timing. These serve different purposes. If you want to tie your stay to either occasion, check the relevant date separately before booking.

Market and Market Days in Bogoso

In the Prestea-Huni Valley Municipality, farmers, especially food crop producers, can market their produce at eight major markets; Bogoso is one of them. Bogoso Market is therefore part of a municipality-wide trading network. The municipality’s 2023 and 2025 budgets list Tuesday, Friday and Saturday as market days for the market. These entries refer to the respective budget years and do not replace confirmation of the current days and conditions locally. The figure of eight markets refers to the municipality as a whole; the weekdays refer specifically to Bogoso Market.

Yam Festival: Check the Date

A 2017 description mentions the Yam Festival in Bogoso and places it in November. The month given in that description is a historical reference point; if you plan to travel for the festival, confirm the date of the relevant edition before setting your hotel dates. Market and festival information answer two different questions: the market entries give weekdays, while the festival description gives the month. Do not treat them as a single event calendar.

Hotel and Conference Capacity

According to its own information, Bogoso Golden Hotel has a conference centre with room for 300 guests. The information published by the hotel also lists 96 beds in accommodation ranging from budget to three-star. This gives you two different planning figures: 300 guests refers to the conference centre; 96 beds describes the published accommodation capacity. If you are planning an event with overnight stays, enquire about both capacities separately; the conference figure does not indicate whether beds are available for your group. Also confirm booking details directly with the hotel.

Plan Your Trip Around the Occasion

First, make your decision based on the occasion. A stay motivated by market days depends on a weekday and current information that needs to be confirmed locally; for the Yam Festival, check the date of the edition relevant to you. If you are looking for a venue for a meeting or event, you can ask the provider specifically about the published conference capacity of Bogoso Golden Hotel. The same accommodation information does not replace checking bed availability. This distinction helps you set your preferred dates and then look for a hotel in Bogoso, rather than treating historical market or festival information as a booking guarantee.
