Yurevka: Routes to Kegeti and Issyk-Ata
Accommodation in Yurevka
Several routes pass through Yurevka toward Kegeti and Issyk-Ata. The trails to Lake Köl-Tör and Kegeti Waterfall pass through Yurevka, Syntash and Rot-Front before reaching the Kegeti Gorge. Two different types of information are particularly useful for planning: the profile of a longer hike and the course of the access roads.
Hike to Lake Köl-Tör
Lake Köl-Tör lies in a side branch of the Kegeti Gorge at an elevation of about 2,700 meters above sea level. The trail from the parking area to the lake is 7.5 kilometers long, takes approximately 3 hours 30 minutes and involves an elevation gain of 1,000 meters. These figures help you plan the hike from several perspectives: the distance describes the route, while the estimated time and elevation gain offer separate points of reference for planning your day. Measurements may vary depending on which parking area you choose.
Access to Lake Köl-Tör is via Yurevka, Syntash and Rot-Front, and then on to the Kegeti Gorge. On the access road via Yurevka, the paved surface gives way to an unpaved road upon reaching the gorge. As road conditions can change, check the latest situation before setting out. On the Lake Köl-Tör trail, the path is visible and marked; signs indicate the elevation and distance to the next major point. Check the trail markers and signs again on site before setting off.
At the access point via Yurevka, an environmental checkpoint is located before the bridge over the Kegeti River. Vehicle registration and payment of an environmental fee are required there. Procedures and fees may change, so check the latest information before setting out.
Kegeti Waterfall and trail conditions
The access route to Kegeti Waterfall through the Kegeti Gorge also passes through Yurevka, Syntash and Rot-Front. The waterfall is about 200 meters from the road and can be reached via an easy trail. The distance may vary slightly depending on which parking area you choose. Compared with Lake Köl-Tör, the short distance from the road and the trail’s difficulty rating are the key considerations here; for the lake, hiking time and elevation gain are important planning figures.
Routes toward Issyk-Ata and Kant
A mountain route leads from Bishkek or Tokmok through Yurevka to the Issyk-Ata Resort and onward into the Issyk-Ata Gorge. An alternative route from the Kegeti Gorge continues via Yurevka to Kant and Bishkek. The onward journey differs between the two routes: one heads toward the Issyk-Ata Gorge, while the other heads toward Kant and Bishkek. On the road from Yurevka to the Issyk-Ata Resort, the Issyk-Ata River is crossed by a bridge about two kilometers beyond the village.
The Issyk-Ata River, local springs and lakes are part of the landscape around Yurevka. The surrounding foothills and waterways offer opportunities for recreation. Nearby Issyk-Ata Resort is based on thermal waters; temperatures of about 40 °C have been reported for the boreholes.
The historic Tash-Bashat–Issyk-Ata route ends in Yurevka, where the gorge emerges from the mountains. The journey at the time included continuing by bus to Frunze. Check the timetable and availability of this service before planning to use it.
