Al-Bahah – Nature, Activities and Dhee Ain
Accommodation in Al-Bahah
Al-Bahah offers hiking, mountain climbing activities and opportunities for cycling. Its natural and local features also vary considerably: Raghadan is known for its wildlife and tranquil landscapes, Dhee Ain for a historic village in a Wadi oasis, and Prince Hussam Park for a striking glass bridge. You can tailor your stay around exercise, scenery or specific destinations.
Activities and Nature in Al-Bahah
Hiking and mountain climbing activities are available in Al-Bahah, and cycling is also an option. These three activities offer different ways to spend time outdoors. When planning, you can consider which form of exercise appeals to you most.
Raghadan is considered a nature reserve in Al-Bahah, with diverse wildlife and tranquil landscapes. This offers a different focus from the activity options: here, the emphasis is on scenery and wildlife, rather than on a particular form of exercise.
Scenery, Village History and Architecture
The historic village of Dhee Ain is 24 kilometres from Al-Bahah, at the entrance to Al Makhwah and seven kilometres south, next to Wadi Dhi Khudrah. It sits on a white, rocky mountain spur surrounded by a lush Wadi oasis. These location details give you a specific sense of where the village and its surroundings are.
Prince Hussam Park features an 85-metre-long glass suspension bridge more than 40 metres above the ground. Compared with Dhee Ain’s mountain spur and Wadi oasis, the bridge is an architectural highlight: the park is another clearly distinct feature to consider when planning your trip.
Getting There and Planning Your Hotel Stay
Al-Bahah is accessible by direct flights to and from King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Airport. As flight schedules can change, check your connection before planning your trip.
Saudi Arabia in the Wider Travel Picture
Beyond Al-Bahah, Saudi Arabia offers further cultural and scenic perspectives. Hegra, Al-Ahsa and the cultural area of Ḥimā represent different historic sites and landscapes in the country.
The archaeological site of Hegra includes 111 monumental tombs, 94 of which are decorated, as well as water wells. The tombs and monuments are carved directly into the sandstone. Historically, Hegra lay on a trade route linking the Arabian Peninsula, the Mediterranean region and Asia.
The Al-Ahsa Oasis includes gardens, canals, springs and wells, as well as a drainage lake, historic buildings, urban structures and archaeological sites. The oasis also contains more than 2.5 million palm trees. Its traditional historic souks include Al-Qaysariyah in Al-Hofuf.
The cultural area of Ḥimā features rock art depicting hunting, animals, plants and ways of life within a cultural continuity spanning 7,000 years. Ḥimā lies at the oldest known customs station on a major ancient desert caravan route; the wells of Bi’r Ḥimā still provide fresh water today.
