Mirador offers several different points of interest for trip planning: the project area has a combined playground and several trails; nearby, there is also a specifically named walking trail as well as historic and scenic points. If you are looking for hotels in Mirador, distinguishing between places within the area itself and destinations nearby can help you organise the focus of your stay. Not all the places mentioned are directly in Mirador.

Playground in Mirador

The Crest Playground is located in The Crest in Mirador. The combined playground includes a slide, a flying fox, stepping stones, platforms, rope and metal ladders, and a climbing wall. The elements differ in type: the slide and flying fox sit alongside climbing and movement features. This makes the playground a specific point of interest for trip planning, with several named play features. For orientation, it can be distinguished from the walking trails in the project area and the historic points nearby.

Trails and nature in the project area

There are several walking trails in the project area in Mirador, currently used exclusively for recreation. Check the condition of these trails and public access again before visiting. Nearby, the Mundooi Trail runs for 2 kilometres from the Short Point/Tura Beach car park to Short Point; its detailed trail conditions should also be checked again before walking. This gives you two separate considerations when planning: use, condition and access matter for the trails in the project area, while the Mundooi Trail is identified by its route and endpoints.

A 2023 environmental description also notes remnant native vegetation in the project area in Mirador. If you want to distinguish nature and walking themes for your stay, these two features can help with orientation.

Historic points of interest nearby

Pages Creek Dam was built by Munn around 1870–1880 to supply his Maizena factory with clean water. Another historic point of interest is the Trolley Way Mirador Tramway, which is located off Mirador Drive in Merimbula. Its historic significance is connected to the construction of Munn's Maizena Works and other buildings in Merimbula. The two places have different points of focus: the dam relates to the water supply for a factory, while the tramway is connected with the construction of works and other buildings. If you are interested in regional industrial and building history, you can consider these two connections separately rather than treating them as the same kind of historic place.

Scenic points near Merimbula

Back Lake and Back Lagoon are near Short Point in Merimbula; both are bordered by Whipbird Way and Mirador. These waterways are therefore located near Merimbula, while the remnant native vegetation is part of the project area in Mirador. This distinction is useful for trip planning if you want to consider several nature-related features: the waterways are near Short Point, while the vegetation is associated with the project area.
