The beach, river estuary and trails each offer a different way to enjoy a stay by the water in Pambula Beach. The Surf Club’s activities and the facilities at Lions Park may also factor into your plans. Sorting out these interests first can help you tailor your hotel search to your travel plans.

Beach and river estuary

You can swim at Pambula Beach, and kayak, stand-up paddleboard or fish at the Pambula River estuary. The estuary lies on the inland side of the southern headland of Pambula Beach and is surrounded by Beowa National Park. A walking trail crosses the headland between Pambula Beach and the estuary. Activities are therefore spread across two distinct locations: the beach and the river estuary.

Trails with different destinations

The walking trail crosses the headland between Pambula Beach and the Pambula River estuary. The Merimbula to Pambula Cycle and Walkway is different: this shared walking and cycling path is 10 kilometres long and connects Merimbula with Pambula Beach. It is sealed and runs separate from the road. The trail over the headland leads to the estuary; the shared path connects with Merimbula. So the destination is the main consideration when choosing between them.

Facilities and activities by the water

There are two accessible parking spaces at the estuary, as well as a level path to accessible toilets and outdoor showers. Facilities and accessibility information may change; check current conditions before your trip. Pambula Beach Surf Club has two beach wheelchairs; availability may change, so check locally before you travel. The club also runs The Same Wave, a programme of surfing and beach activities for people with special needs. Programme availability may vary; confirm current arrangements before travelling. Plan for these two locations separately: facilities at the estuary, and beach wheelchairs and the programme at the Surf Club.

Kangaroos and Lions Park

Resident kangaroos are often seen at Pambula Beach and on surrounding streets. If you are interested in wildlife watching, kangaroo sightings add another location-specific aspect to the beach and trail activities. Lions Park Beach (Jiguma Beach) is dog-friendly. Lions Park has benches, free gas barbecues, picnic tables, toilet facilities, a beach shower and a viewing platform. Facilities may change; check locally before your trip. If you are travelling with a dog, Lions Park Beach is a relevant beach option; if you are looking for a break with a picnic table or gas barbecue, the facilities at Lions Park are another point of reference.
