Condobolin offers travellers different ways to explore: memorial sites and Wiradjuri culture are part of its character, as are local history, inland art and sweeping views across the surrounding fertile plains. For planning your visit, it is also helpful to know that the attractions have different formats: the Heritage Walk is self-guided, visits to the Wiradjuri Study Centre are by appointment, and approximate travel times are provided for the Reservoir Hill Lookout.

Remembrance, Culture and Local History

Memorial Park commemorates people who lost their lives in the Boer War, the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. The same park is home to the Peter “Yabby” Riley Adventure Playground. Its play equipment is designed for people of all ages and with different abilities. This brings lasting remembrance and a play space for people with different needs together in one place.

The Condobolin and District Historical Museum features curated exhibitions about the town’s pioneers, including a local exhibition commemorating the First World War. The two sites have different thematic focuses: the museum covers the town’s pioneers and a local commemorative exhibition, while Memorial Park remembers people who lost their lives in several conflicts.

The Wiradjuri Study Centre was purpose-built to promote the study and understanding of Wiradjuri culture. Visits are available by prior appointment, so arrange your visit in advance.

Walks and Inland Art

Condobolin’s self-guided Heritage Walk includes a map and guide with information about the buildings and places along the route. It offers a way to explore local history through its buildings and stops, while the Wiradjuri Study Centre is dedicated to the study and understanding of Wiradjuri culture. The walk and a visit to the Centre therefore offer different ways to explore: a self-guided route and an appointment-based visit with a cultural focus.

Utes in the Paddock is a unique, quirky Australian art exhibition featuring art on the iconic Holden Ute. Sculpture Down the Lachlan offers something different: this permanent inland public art trail stretches for 100 kilometres along the meandering Lachlan River from Condobolin to Forbes. The attractions differ in both form and scale: an art exhibition featuring Holden Utes and an extensive art trail along the river.

Panoramic Views and Water Skiing

The Reservoir Hill Lookout offers panoramic views of Condobolin and the surrounding fertile plains. The lookout is approximately 2 kilometres from the town centre; the walk takes about 25 minutes, while the drive takes about 4 minutes. Distance and travel times are approximate and vary depending on the mode of transport.

Gum Bend Lake offers a different activity: this artificial lake, three kilometres from Condobolin, is suitable for water skiing. The two sites can therefore be distinguished by their focus: the Reservoir Hill Lookout offers panoramic views of the town and plains, while Gum Bend Lake is all about water skiing.
