Mogo is a small historic village on the far south coast of New South Wales. Its defining features include the Mogo Trails, preserved miners’ cottages, arts and crafts, and cafés. Mogo Wildlife Park is 2 km east of the village. When planning your trip, you can consider the trail network, village history, and nearby wildlife attraction as separate points of interest.

Mountain bike trails and access points

The Mogo Trails comprise 72 purpose-built mountain bike trails with a total length of around 125 km. They are located on both sides of the Princes Highway in Mogo. The figure of around 125 km refers to the entire network, not a single ride—a helpful distinction when planning the length of your outing.

The trails are open 24 hours a day and free to ride. Check Trailforks for possible closures and trail condition updates. Review this information before setting off so you can adjust your plans to the latest advice.

The three main trail access points are Curtis Road, Mogo, and the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden. Trailhead layouts may change due to forestry or maintenance work. If a particular starting point is important for your ride, check the intended access point shortly before setting off.

Village history, workshops, and art

Mogo developed after gold was discovered in the surrounding area in the 1850s. The village has preserved its character from an earlier era; many newer buildings have been designed to complement the surviving miners’ cottages. The streetscape therefore includes both historic cottages and later buildings designed to suit the older structures.

Juela Mogo is a jewellery studio and gallery with a workshop in the centre of Mogo. These spaces are housed in a former settler’s cottage dating from the 1860s, which has retained its rustic character. The historic house provides a distinctive architectural setting for the studio and its workshop.

The Gallery Mogo sells artworks and high-quality handmade items on behalf of members of Creative Arts Batemans Bay Incorporated (CABBI). Alongside the village’s history, art and handcrafted pieces offer their own distinct aspects of a stay in Mogo.

Village shops and cafés

Mogo Village has specialty shops and cafés. They complement the historic buildings and art offerings with opportunities to shop and dine. Individual businesses’ offerings may change; if a particular shop or café is important to your plans, check what it offers before your visit.

Mogo Wildlife Park east of the village

Mogo Wildlife Park is 2 km east of Mogo. It is home to 200 animals from 42 rare and exotic species; animal numbers may change. Experiences available there include bookable “Up Close & Personal” encounters and daily keeper talks.

Program availability may vary. If an encounter or talk is important to your visit, check what is available for your planned date. This lets you include the wildlife park as a separate activity without conflating it with the village offerings or the Mogo Trails.
