Lucinda is defined by its long jetty, coastline and trips towards Hinchinbrook Island.

The Lucinda Jetty and Sugar Terminal

The Lucinda Jetty is 5.76 kilometres long and the longest service jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. Lucinda is home to the Lucinda Bulk Sugar Terminal and its jetty, which is also the world’s largest facility for loading bulk sugar. More than 660 concrete and steel pylons support the jetty. The rounded figure of six kilometres describes the same structure, which extends far out into the Coral Sea.

Coast, Parks and Fishing

Lucinda lies directly opposite the southern tip of Hinchinbrook Island, which is listed as a World Heritage site. The Hinchinbrook Channel lies north of Lucinda, and the Coral Sea lies to the east. Borello Park provides direct access to Lucinda Beach; the park also has walking paths and historic monuments.

Lions Park on Patterson Parade has a playground and a half basketball court. Park facilities may change during repairs. The two parks offer different places to visit: Borello Park focuses on beach access and walking paths, while Lions Park has a playground and half basketball court.

You can go fishing on a boat tour or fish in the estuary, among the mangroves, from the beach or from the jetty. The Lucinda Fishing Wharf extends into the Hinchinbrook Channel and also offers fishing opportunities for families. Conditions on the water and regulations may vary.

Trips to Hinchinbrook Island

From Lucinda, you can join a Hinchinbrook safari and explore the island’s mountains, waterfalls and freshwater pools. A day trip to Zoe Bay is another option from Lucinda. The availability of these trips may vary depending on the operator and conditions.
