Discover Mooloolaba: Beach, Pathways and SEA LIFE
Accommodation in Mooloolaba
Mooloolaba offers a range of reasons to stay: Mooloolaba Beach, waterfront pathways, a long cultural history and SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast. When looking for a hotel in Mooloolaba, you can consider which of these aspects you want to focus on during your trip. The beach, pathways, local history and all-weather visitor attraction appeal to different interests.
Cultural history by the water
For tens of thousands of years, First Nations people have fished in the Mooloolah River and Mooloolaba Harbour. This longstanding connection to the two waterways adds a cultural perspective on Mooloolaba to its beach and pathway themes. The area's history also encompasses a relationship with the water that extends far beyond a single beach visit.
Beach and water sports
Mooloolaba Beach is a popular swimming beach, sheltered to the south by Point Cartwright Headland. Bodyboarding and surfing are also popular activities there; conditions vary. Swimming and board sports offer different reasons to include the beach in your travel plans, without assuming conditions will be the same on every visit.
Pathways and navigation
The Mooloolaba Connection runs from Mooloolaba Beach to Buddina Beach and is 5.5 km long. It also includes a separated cycle path from Mooloolaba to Tuckers Creek Bridge. The Coastal Pathway section from the Mooloolah River to Alexandra Headland starts at the northern river wall of the Mooloolah River. After parking near a playground, a path leads to the end of the Mooloolah River's northern river wall. The Connection's length and endpoint help with navigation; the river and river wall are the main landmarks for the Coastal Pathway.
Surroundings and visiting with a dog
Parks, playgrounds, restaurants and takeaway options are located near Mooloolaba Beach. Individual businesses and facilities may change; check specific places before your visit if needed. Dogs are not allowed along the entire Mooloolaba Beach Foreshore. If you are travelling with a dog, check the local council's current guidance before your visit.
Beach events
Mooloolaba Beach is a popular venue for wedding ceremonies and events. Three separate areas are available: the beach, the northern rocks and the Spit rock wall. If you are planning an event, check the current booking conditions in advance.
SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast
SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast at The Wharf in Mooloolaba is an all-weather visitor attraction open year-round. The facility has 11 animal zones across three levels, including the 80 m-long Ocean Tunnel.
