Pittsworth: Local History and Art

The Pittsworth Pioneer Historical Village recalls Pittsworth’s early development through original buildings, equipment and artefacts. Its scope explicitly includes the surrounding rural district. So it is not only about the history of the town, but also the development of its rural surroundings. If you are interested in Pittsworth’s past, this regional context is an important part of the focus.

The Pittsworth Art Gallery & Information Centre has a different focus: it presents paintings, ceramics and woodwork by local artists. The range of materials gives the art offering a clear breadth without conflating it with the historical focus of the Village. If you would like to include local art in your travel plans, you will find a distinct area of interest here alongside the early history of the town and district.

This comparison can help you define your cultural interests more precisely: the Village represents the development of Pittsworth and the surrounding district, while the gallery showcases works by local artists. You can explore these subjects separately or consider them as different perspectives on Pittsworth. This makes it easier to choose a cultural focus based on whether you are more interested in history, art or the connection between the two.

Events with Specific Dates

The Pittsworth Show is scheduled for 5 and 6 March 2027. If you want to plan your trip around these dates, check them before departure. This is especially useful when an event date determines your choice of travel period and you want to plan around more than just the month.

The Pittsworth Sprints take place annually, but their dates change from year to year. The 2026 edition was scheduled for 4 to 6 September. These dates apply specifically to that year’s edition and are not a general date for the Sprints. If you are travelling in another year, check the date for that year’s edition.

For the 2025 edition, the Pittsworth Sprints were a club event with “One Car Sprint” status. On 12, 13 and 14 September, vehicles set off individually for timed sprints on selected roads in Pittsworth, Queensland, that were closed for the event. This description applies to the 2025 format; the course layout may change between editions. So do not assume these details apply to a different event year without checking.

Choose Your Reason for Travelling

For trip planning, there is a clear distinction: the Village and the gallery cater to different cultural interests, while the Show and the Sprints are tied to specific dates in particular years. If you are planning your trip around an event, check its date for the relevant year. When looking for a hotel in Pittsworth, you can first decide why you are travelling and choose a suitable period.
