Seven Mile Beach: Coast, Trails and Nature
Accommodation in Seven Mile Beach
Seven Mile Beach is 10 km (7 miles) long. At its eastern end near Sandy Point, the coastline running southeast turns south to southwest. The beach, dune landscape and various trails give you different points of interest to consider when planning a trip to Seven Mile Beach.
Beach and Coastal Landscape
Seven Mile Beach Reserve is in the coastal dune system between the settlement of Seven Mile Beach and Frederick Henry Bay. Another coastal section is the shoreline stretch of the Clarence Kayak Trail between Roches Beach and Seven Mile Beach. It features long sandy beaches, small coves and low cliffs. The place references differ: at the Reserve, the settlement and bay are set in relation to the dune system, while the Trail section names Roches Beach and Seven Mile Beach as its endpoints.
Recreational Activities and Walking Trails
The Seven Mile Beach Disc Golf Course is a nine-hole course for beginners and experienced players. It is set in a pine forest and offers views of the beach and bushland. The nine holes describe the format of play; the pine forest and views of the beach and bushland give an impression of the course’s surroundings.
The Seven Mile Beach & Five Mile Beach Trail is a moderately difficult, 15 km walking trail. It runs along Seven Mile Beach, over Sandy Point and back across the sand flats of Five Mile Beach. Its length, difficulty rating and route help distinguish it from a single course or a longer trail network. Planning may require a vehicle transfer between the two ends or a ride. Alternatively, you can walk 2 km along Pittwater Road at the end. Check trail conditions before setting out, as they can change.
Trails and Facilities Along the Way
The Clarence Coastal Trail runs from Roches Beach to Seven Mile Beach, to the beach and on to Lewis Park. The park has a playground, picnic facilities and toilets. The park’s play and fitness equipment includes swings and several exercise stations; Lewis Park also provides beach access. Facilities may change. If you are planning to use them, check beforehand as needed.
The Tangara Trail offers a 250 km network of recreational routes between Seven Mile Beach and South Arm. The distance refers to the network, not a single trip. Individual routes may change, so check the current route if you are choosing a specific trail. By contrast, the Seven Mile Beach & Five Mile Beach Trail is a single 15 km route with a described course over Sandy Point and across the sand flats of Five Mile Beach.
