Jurien Bay combines marine nature and coastal trails with a variety of activities. Jurien Bay Marine Park covers the waters between Wedge and Green Head and extends about 5.5 kilometres offshore. The park is home to the only breeding area for Australian sea lions on Australia’s west coast.

The Turquoise Way Trail and Dobbyn Park

The 14.2-kilometre paved Turquoise Way Trail runs from Jurien Bay Marina along the coast to the mouth of the Hill River.

The Turquoise Way Trail passes through the foreshore area of Dobbyn Park, which has picnic areas, shelters, public toilets, beach access, playgrounds, an outdoor fitness area, an outdoor shower and drinking fountains. The facilities bring together opportunities to take a break, exercise and spend time by the water along the coastal route. Facilities may change over time; check the current details before your visit. The foreshore section of the Turquoise Way Trail offers the facilities at Dobbyn Park; the Yued Ponar Walk Trail runs through Kwongan heathland to the summit of Mount Peron.

Wildflowers and Kwongan Heathland

For a different perspective on nature, visit nearby Lesueur National Park, a wildflower destination with more than 900 known plant species. Comparing it with Jurien Bay Marine Park highlights two distinct focuses: Lesueur National Park is known for its wildflowers and plant diversity, while the Marine Park is centred on its waters and the only breeding area for Australian sea lions on Australia’s west coast. Depending on your interests in nature, you can choose between botanical diversity and a marine focus.

Near Jurien Bay, the Yued Ponar Walk Trail passes through biodiverse Kwongan heathland to the summit of Mount Peron and offers views of the park along its 7.1-kilometre route. In a direct comparison of length, it is half as long as the 14.2-kilometre Turquoise Way Trail. The trails also differ in their landscapes and routes: Kwongan heathland and a summit on one, a paved coastal route on the other. Trail conditions and seasonal hazards may change; check them before setting out. The Turquoise Way Trail ends at the mouth of the Hill River, while the Yued Ponar Walk Trail ends at the summit of Mount Peron.

Tandem Experience with a Beach Landing

Skydive Jurien Bay has offered high-quality tandem skydiving experiences since 2009. A tandem skydive includes a landing on Jurien Bay’s white-sand beach. This sets it apart from the walking trails: the tandem experience and beach landing are the focus. If you’re weighing up different activities for your stay, this is an alternative to a coastal route or hike.
