Glenlynn combines forest areas with farming activities. When planning your trip, it is worth considering the nature-related features and the participation requirements of the activities separately: Glenlynn Forest Conservation Area is known for bushwalking and observing native vegetation; the farm activities are intended for specific guests or groups. There is also a named turn-off for reaching Glenlynn Farm Cottages, which you can take into account when planning your route.

Forest and vegetation

In the locality of Glenlynn, an area of about 598 hectares is classified as State Forest and Crown Reserve. This State Forest area has a high level of biophysical naturalness. A Timber Reserve unit covering around 803 hectares has remnant vegetation. These are different land classifications: the high level of biophysical naturalness applies to the State Forest area, while remnant vegetation is associated with the Timber Reserve unit. In terms of area, the Timber Reserve unit, at around 803 hectares, is larger than the State Forest area of about 598 hectares. Converted, these are approximately 8.03 and 5.98 square kilometres, respectively.

Glenlynn Forest Conservation Area is directly adjacent to the Lucieville property and can be used for bushwalking. Native vegetation can also be observed there. This named area therefore offers two nature-related activities: walking on a bushwalk and observing native vegetation. Glenlynn Farm Cottages is surrounded by State Forest, offering a different forest connection to consider when choosing where to stay.

Farm activities and seasonal damper

Lucieville offers damper cooked over hot coals in winter, provided there are no fire bans in place. If you would like to include this activity in your trip plans, take both conditions into account: the winter season and the absence of a fire ban.

Glenlynn Farm Cottages offers farm tours and animal feeding for its guests. These activities are intended for cottage guests. Lucieville also offers excursions for school groups and student groups, giving them a full-day insight into the daily operations of a farm. The target audience and duration therefore differ from the cottage guest activities: the excursion is a full-day activity for school and student groups. The farm offerings can be distinguished by their conditions: damper depends on it being winter and there being no fire ban; the cottage activities are for guests; and the Lucieville excursion is for school or student groups and requires a full day.

Getting there and finding accommodation

To reach Glenlynn Farm Cottages from South Western Highway, turn onto Press Road about five kilometres south of Bridgetown. Press Road does not appear on most navigation systems because it is a dead-end road with no through route. So include the turn-off in your route planning rather than relying solely on what your navigation system displays.
