Trails around Weyern

During a stay in Weyern, you can distinguish between different activities by their specific routes. One trail runs via Oberwinkl to the Kneipp facility in Lend, the winter walking trail goes via Weyern and Ederhof back to Gröbming, and the cross-country ski trail includes the Lend-Weyern loop. There is also the trail to Gröbminger Alm. If you are looking for a hotel, it helps to consider these activities separately: they lead to different destinations and involve different kinds of outings, rather than forming a single route.

Routes and views

The FX-Mayr Trail begins in Kurpark Gröbming, directly opposite the Gröbming bus station, and runs via Oberwinkl and Weyern to the Kneipp facility in Lend. For orientation, the bus station provides a clear reference point for the start at the spa park, while Weyern lies along the route to Lend. This makes the route distinct from the winter walking trail, which goes via Ederhof back to Gröbming.

The Gröbming-Winkl winter walking trail runs along the road to Weyern and via Ederhof back to Gröbming. It follows the edge of the forest and offers views of Gröbming and the panorama of Kammspitze. This is a specific difference from the FX-Mayr Trail: the return route via Ederhof and the forest edge are features of this route, while the other trail begins in the spa park and leads to the Kneipp facility in Lend.

The Gröbming-Winkl-Weyern-Gröbminger Alm route also offers views of Gröbming and the panorama of Kammspitze. Compared with the winter walking trail, both routes mention these views, while the forest edge is an additional feature of the winter walking trail. If scenery is a consideration when planning your trip, you can distinguish between the shared panorama and the additional stretch along the forest edge.

Winter Walking and Cross-Country Skiing

The “Winkl Loop & Lend-Weyern Loop” cross-country ski trail is a separate option. It runs from Gröbming towards Winkl and includes the Lend-Weyern loop. When snow conditions are good and the weather is suitable, the trails are regularly groomed for both classic and skating techniques. If you are planning to use a groomed trail, take both conditions into account. The two winter activities answer different planning questions: for the winter walking trail, the return route, forest edge and views matter; for the ski trail, the loop, skiing style, and grooming—which depends on the weather and snow—are key.

Trail to Gröbminger Alm

There is also a trail from Weyern to Gröbminger Alm, where you will find a small petting zoo with rabbits, goats and sheep. The alpine pasture and its animals offer a different focus from the trail to the Kneipp facility and the winter activities. If you would like to combine a walk to the alpine pasture with a visit to the petting zoo, you can consider this as a separate activity. The trail options therefore differ not only in direction, but also in the destinations and experiences mentioned for each.
