Bílkovice lies in a valley between forests and near a well-known quarry. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Bílkovice, you can get a sense of the destination through its local architectural history, cycling and hiking trails, and river landscape. This makes it easier to see which of these themes fits your travel plans.

The chapel as a village landmark

The Chapel of Saint Anthony stands on its own plot in the middle of the village, making it a clear geographical landmark. The miller and former Member of Parliament Josef Olt had it built at his own expense in 1926. The chapel contains an image of Saint Anthony, which was restored in 1998. The building needs maintenance. For travelers interested in local architectural and commemorative history, the chapel connects a central place in the village with a specific dedication and a restoration date.

Historical culture and community life

Local cultural history includes theater, dance and sport. A reading and amateur theater group was founded in Bílkovice in the 1920s. It performed in the village, in neighboring villages and in the surrounding area. In the 1970s, a local girls’ dance group performed Bohemian dances at regional festivals and celebrations. The former amateur theater is also part of this history: its hub was the small hall at U Litošů. Three plays were performed there twice each year. TJ Sokol Bílkovice’s club activities included sports sessions for women and men, as well as a football team. These examples are part of the village’s historical culture; they do not describe current performances or club offerings.

Landscape, cycling and hiking trails

Cycle Route 0072 runs through Olbramovice, Postupice, Chotýšany, Bílkovice, Divišov and Český Šternberk. A green-marked hiking route runs from Domašín railway station over Kalamajka Hill and the Onšovice trail junction to Bílkovice, and then continues to Divišov town square. Before setting out, check the route information locally again. For planning purposes, the two routes differ in their stated landmarks: the cycling route follows a series of villages, while the hiking route passes over a hill and a trail junction on its way to Divišov.

The mill and the Chotýšanka

The Bílkovický, Oltův mlýn is a large, compact mill on the Chotýšanka, 500 meters downstream from the Radošovický mlýn. A manorial valuation dated September 16, 1743, recorded it as a mill with two sets of milling equipment. This connects a specific geographical location with a precisely dated historical record. The Chotýšanka runs through Bílkovice. Canoeing is possible only on the 11.5-kilometer stretch from the dam of the Smikov pond to its confluence with the Vlašimská Blanice. Navigability depends on water levels, the time of year and obstacles. Swimming is also one of Bílkovice’s natural visitor activities.
