Brodce lies south of Mladá Boleslav and can be viewed through its landscape, local history, and activities along the Jizera near Brodce. These offer different perspectives for planning your trip: the natural surroundings, the layout of the historic part of the village, and the opportunities by the river.

Landscape and Village Layout

Brodce lies in gently rolling countryside. The terrain of the cadastral area is shaped by the Jizera Valley and by woodland to the north and south. In the historic part, the street layout forms a regular rectangular pattern. Road II/610 runs through the centre of Brodce. These features describe different scales: the terrain of the cadastral area, the layout of the historic part, and the route of a road through the village centre. The rectangular pattern refers to the street layout in the historic area; II/610 is a specific road in the centre. This makes it possible to consider the landscape, historic village layout, and road route separately.

Archaeological and Historical Evidence

Archaeological finds in Brodce attest to the presence of the Únětice culture between 2000 and 1700 BC. The first written mention of the village dates from 1130, when Brodce was named in documents of the Vyšehrad Chapter. The archaeological date is considerably earlier than the first documentary mention. The two references offer different historical points of reference: archaeological finds from a specific period and a written mention of the village.

Brodce is also home to the cultural monument Hradiště pod Vlčím dolem, a Bronze Age burial site. Its ÚSKP number is 35269/2-1778. Part of the village brewery’s buildings, dating from the 18th century, has been preserved. Thus, a named burial site and historic building fabric from a later period stand side by side. Together, these historical points of reference span the Bronze Age to preserved buildings from the 18th century.
