Chorušice lies 18 kilometres northeast of Mělník. Here, the Polabí Plain gives way to the rolling landscape of the Dolnojizerská Table; Kokořínsko borders it with more varied terrain. The town offers several distinct themes to help you plan your trip: sacred architectural history, an educational trail covering nature and history, and a cycling route. If you are looking for a hotel in Chorušice, you can first consider which of these themes you would like to shape your stay.

Baroque sacred buildings

The most prominent landmark in Chorušice is the Baroque pilgrimage and Roman Catholic deanery Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The present building was constructed between 1714 and 1716, replacing an older church that had fallen into serious disrepair. At the centre of the presbytery, or sanctuary, is a miraculous image of Our Lady of Sorrows. The construction period and the image give the church a clear historical and religious significance.

The Baroque chapel on the village square was also built in 1716. Its decoration is connected with that of the deanery church. The figures in its two niches can be clearly distinguished: the eastern niche, facing the church, depicts Our Lady of Sorrows, while the western one depicts Saint John of Nepomuk. Those interested in religious art will find another building beside the church, with its own visual language and a specific connection to the decoration of the deanery church.

Educational trail and cycling route

The four-kilometre Chorušická zákoutí educational trail starts in Chorušice at a revitalised water reservoir and leads through a sandstone valley south of the municipality. Its topics range from local nature and attractions to partisan activity during the Second World War. Ten information panels or play elements present the content in an entertaining way; the trail is intended for a broad audience, from preschool-aged children to adults. In this way, the route brings together the landscape and local history in a single themed experience.

For a cycling trip, consider the 29.9-kilometre Route No. 8146. It forms part of the Greenway Jizera and runs through Chorušice and the village district of Velký Újezd. The route offers a different option for planning your visit than the four-kilometre educational trail: if you plan to cycle, check the current route before setting off.
