Doksy among forests, sandstone and history

The Lodenický potok, also known as Kačák, flows through Doksy. The Křivoklátské Forests end at the western edge of Doksy.

Nature and water

The Dokeský Rybník water body lies at the confluence of the Loděnice and Rozdělovský potok in the cadastral area of Doksy u Kladna. At Dokeský Rybník, parking is permitted exclusively in the designated car park on the dam. The forests around Doksy are visited for tourist and recreational walks. The Drvotova nature trail runs through the forest near Doksy. It was established in 1982. This means that different landscape areas stand side by side by the water and in the forest: the pond is defined by its confluence, while the nature trail is defined by its route through the forest and its creation in 1982.

Culture and history

Přírodní divadlo Doksy is an open-air amphitheatre. It comprises a stage and three wooden buildings for refreshments. It is located on the site of a former sandstone quarry. It operated from 1933 until the 1960s. The site therefore combines its present-day architectural description with a clearly limited historical period of operation; the stage, wooden buildings and former sandstone quarry are part of its recorded local history.

A rural mill from the 19th century is located in Doksy. It has survived without major alterations. However, its milling equipment is no longer present. The chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the village green in Doksy. It dates from 1763. At the mill, therefore, it is above all the preserved 19th-century building that remains visible, while the former technical equipment no longer exists. The chapel complements this historical heritage with a building from the 18th century that has a precisely documented date.

Doksy is home to a reconstructed light fortification structure. It bears type designation 37 (A4/17/A-180). Originally, it was part of the so-called Prague Line. The fortification structure in Doksy is being reconstructed to its 1938 condition. High-quality sandstone from Doksy was transported to Prague as early as the 14th century. Its use in the construction of several important Prague buildings has been documented. The historical picture here therefore includes both the military structure with its type designation and original affiliation, and the sandstone whose use dates back to the 14th century.

Cycle route No. 0018 runs through Doksy. It continues in the direction of Družec. The Doksy u Kladna climbing area is a sandstone area. It is divided into two sectors. The climbing area is located in abandoned sandstone quarries in the forests around Kamenné Žehrovice. It can be reached from the football pitch in Doksy. The different activities therefore take place in clearly distinguishable settings: the cycle route connects Doksy with the direction of Družec, while the climbing area is characterised by sandstone, two sectors, abandoned quarries and the forests around Kamenné Žehrovice.
