Explore Domousnice through three clearly distinct themes: landscape, castle history and winegrowing. There is also a green-marked hiking trail that leads from Domousnice through Jabkenicko Nature Park to Jabkenická Game Reserve. When planning your trip, you can focus on the natural surroundings and route, as well as historical connections and the local winery.

Landscape and hiking trail

Domousnice lies in a gently rolling landscape. Woodlands give way to areas of arable land and meadows, so forests and open spaces together shape the scenery. At 365.5 m above sea level, Mílová Hůra is the highest point on the northeastern side of Domousnice. To the north, distant views of the layered horizons of Český ráj, the foothills and the mountain ranges are part of the landscape. While Mílová Hůra identifies a specific point and its elevation, the distant view encompasses several layers stretching one behind another. Together, the elevation and the horizon give an impression of the different scales of the gently rolling surroundings.

For a hike, the green-marked trail is the specific point of reference: it leads from Domousnice through Jabkenicko Nature Park to Jabkenická Game Reserve. The sequence of starting point, nature park and destination gives the route description a clear direction; the nature park is explicitly part of the route. If you prefer to plan your trip around a named activity rather than landscape views, this hiking trail offers a distinct focus.

Castle history and castle park

Records show that in 1405 Karel Haras z Bosyně owned the estate and part of the noble fortress that stood on the site of today’s Domousnice Castle. Today’s castle, however, was created around 1730 by converting an older manor house. The dates refer to different historical contexts: 1405 to the estate and fortress on the site, and around 1730 to the creation of today’s castle. Another connection dates to 1911: Mr Kittl, the father of singer Ema Destinnová, chose the castle for her summer stay.

The layout of the castle park is attributed to Jan Petr Rašín. Domousnice Castle Park includes trees with memorial status, as well as statues of a woman in ancient dress, a bearded man and the Virgin Mary. Alongside the attribution for the park’s layout, specific park features are also in focus: the trees and the three distinct figure motifs.

Winegrowing in Domousnice

Zámecké vinařství Munzar in Domousnice was founded in 2004. A wine catalogue from 2021 lists a vineyard area of 7 ha. The two years serve different purposes: 2004 marks the winery’s founding, while the vineyard area is a figure given in the catalogue for 2021.

Wine tastings are also listed in this catalogue. For individuals, it mentions visits without advance booking as well as visits by appointment; groups of fewer than 30 people are required to book. If wine tastings are part of your trip plans, confirm the current arrangements before you travel. This way, the choice between visiting as an individual or as part of a group remains subject to the stated conditions.
