Location on the Výmola

Květnice lies in a flat landscape east of Prague, on both banks of the Výmola stream. The stream is a clear point of reference in descriptions of the area: the Mlýnský rybník is on it, and a stone bridge crosses it. This connects the landscape and the structures through their shared relationship to the water, even though each shows a different aspect of the area. If you are considering Květnice as a place to stay, you can weigh this combination against its historical and cultural attractions: are you mainly interested in the waterside landscape, historic buildings or events?

The Mlýnský rybník is a flow-through pond on the Výmola at river kilometre 2.08, north of Květnice’s historic buildings. As a flow-through pond, it is connected to the course of the stream. The river kilometre locates it along the Výmola; its position north of the historic buildings provides a second point of reference. This landscape feature can therefore be located precisely along the stream and in relation to the historic part of the area.

Fortress, Bridge and Mill Complex

Květnice Fortress was probably built around 1390; this is an approximate historical date, not an exact year of construction. Another distinctive structure is the stone bridge at the corner of K Dobročovicům and Ke Tvrzi. It carries a local road over the Výmola. The description thus connects the specific intersection with the bridge’s function as a road crossing.

The Květnický Mill complex comprises a farmyard and a villa dating from the interwar period, and is connected to the Mlýnský rybník. The two structures mentioned are far apart in time: the fortress is believed to have been built around 1390, while the villa dates from the interwar period. The mill complex is also described as comprising several elements, not just the villa. The farmyard adds another structure to the picture of the complex, while its connection to the pond also links it to the waterside landscape.

Cultural Events

The Nadační fond Květnický mlýn organizes concerts and other cultural events in Květnice. The programme may vary. So if you would like to plan your stay around a specific event, keep an eye on the event dates. The open-air cinema offers a different format: its programme includes family films, Czech classics and new releases. The film selection changes with the season. The area’s cultural offerings thus include both concerts and other events, as well as a cinema programme that changes seasonally.

Multi-Purpose Sports Court
