When looking for a hotel for a stay in Libež, you can prioritize your own interests: chapel history, architectural heritage, protected plants, or cycling. The local themes offer different starting points for planning your trip, from dated construction phases to specific information about a cycle route.

Chapel, mill history, and townscape

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity was built and furnished by miller Pavel Pěnkava in 1712. Originally, it was made of wood apart from the bell tower; during renovations in 1839, it was converted into a masonry chapel. A new chapel was built on the same site in 2006 and consecrated on October 22 of that year. The dates mark different construction phases and can be understood as a chronological sequence.

The Libežský mlýn also belongs to the village’s older history: the Berní rule of 1654 lists it as a mill with two wheels and a sawmill. This reference concerns the mill at that time and complements the chapel’s construction history with another historical connection.

The preserved urban structure of the central part of the Libež settlement on the left bank of the Blanice is also part of its cultural heritage. The two cultural themes differ in scale: the chapel’s construction phases are the focus in one case, and the preserved urban structure of the central settlement in the other.

Nature conservation and cycling

The Les u Libeže Nature Monument protects a population of bristle bellflower (Campanula cervicaria), as well as other specially protected plant species. This provides a specific botanical point of interest for trip planning. Along with the chapel and the settlement’s structure, the nature monument reveals another side of the village: here, the focus is on protecting plant species.

Cycle Route 101 passes through Libež; the village lies at kilometer 9 along the route. The route runs from Louňovice pod Blaníkem via Kondrac, Vlašim, Libež, and Čejkovice to Český Šternberk. The sequence of places makes the stated route easy to follow, while the kilometer marker shows where Libež lies along it.

The route is rated easy, although it has moderately difficult sections in places. “Easy” therefore does not mean that the difficulty is the same throughout. Since the rating may vary depending on current conditions, check the route conditions before setting out.

Cycle Route 101 uses third-class roads and local roads. Its surfaces include asphalt as well as paved and unpaved sections. It is suitable for mountain bikes and trekking bikes. This information gives you several factors to consider when planning your ride: bike type, roads and surfaces, and the varying difficulty profile.

Another route connection is the East Bohemian Way, which reaches Libež along the Blanice River. This provides an additional, distinct connection to the river and the village for planning, alongside the detailed route information for Cycle Route 101.
