Libiš offers several specific attractions for a stay: the “Naučná stezka Libiš” bee trail, the Špičákova zahrada garden and the “Evangelický kostel sv. Trojice” Evangelical church. Nature education, a park and architectural history each offer a different focus. This lets you consider the destinations in light of your personal travel interests and decide which themes you would like to shape your stay.

The Bee Trail and its theme

The “Naučná stezka Libiš” bee trail has ten stops featuring information about the lives of bees and their products. Its theme is clearly defined: the focus is on both bees themselves and the products associated with them. The trail opened on 25 November 2023. It runs along the edge of Černínovsko and ends at the pedestrian bridge below Libušino náměstí. If you include the trail in your travel plans, its route and named endpoint give you specific reference points. Its subject sets the bee trail apart from a general nature description and may interest you if you would like to learn specifically about bees.

Nature reserve and floodplain forest

The Úpor–Černínovsko Nature Reserve encompasses mixed ash-alder floodplain forests along major rivers, as well as rare and specially protected plant and animal species. The focus here is on a particular habitat and its protected species. This is a different nature theme from that of the bee trail: its ten stops provide information about bees and their products, while the nature reserve focuses on floodplain forest and plant and animal species. These different themes can help you decide whether you are more interested in a group of species or a habitat.

Špičákova zahrada: woody plants and other uses

Špičákova zahrada is open year-round and offers visitor facilities for people of all ages. In the revitalized park, a dendrological trail introduces common and rare woody plants. This complements the bee trail’s focus with a different nature theme: here, the focus is on woody plants rather than bees and their products. If you are interested in trees and other woody plants, the trail offers a relevant subject within the garden grounds.

A children’s playground was also built as part of the revitalization. If you plan to make it a fixed part of your stay, please check its current condition in advance. The garden grounds were also equipped with facilities for operating a summer cinema and for other social and cultural events. If a summer cinema or an event is the reason for your trip, it is advisable to check the specific dates.

Evangelical architectural history

The Evangelical church “Evangelický kostel sv. Trojice” in Libiš was built between 1789 and 1792. It is one of the best-preserved examples of the original interior layout of Evangelical houses of prayer from the Toleration era. The highlighted feature is therefore not just the building’s age, but especially its preserved interior arrangement. If you are interested in Evangelical architectural history, the church offers a specific point of cultural and historical interest. The construction period and interior design form a shared theme, clearly distinct from the natural-history themes of the bee trail and woody plants.
