Neratovice on the Elbe: Routes, Nature and History
Accommodation in Neratovice
Neratovice lies on the Elbe in the flat landscape of the Polabská nížina. The riverbanks, cycling routes, swimming options and history of Lobkovice each offer a different perspective on a stay here.
Getting Here and the Railway Station
Neratovice railway station is served by routes 070 (Praha-Čakovice–Turnov), 074 (Čelákovice–Neratovice) and 092 (Neratovice–Kralupy nad Vltavou). Timetables and connections may change, so check the latest information before travelling. Access to the station building, including the passenger shelter and ticket office, is step-free. If you rely on this information, check it again with the operator before setting off.
The Elbe, Cycling Routes and Nature
The Elbe flows through Neratovice. Its banks are ideal for walking, cycling and enjoying nature. Flat routes run along the river and are suitable for less experienced cyclists and walkers. The town and its surroundings also offer an extensive network of cycling routes across predominantly flat terrain. These make it possible to enjoy easy rides as well as longer trips into nature or to historical sights. You can choose between a route along the river and a longer cycling trip, depending on how much distance you want to include in your day’s plans.
The Kopeč Nature Reserve is another natural attraction to consider. It is near Neratovice, in the direction of Mělník. It protects communities of drought-tolerant plants and rock outcrops with rare and endangered species, including plants, fungi, insects, warmth-loving spiders and snails.
The Lesní naučná tělocvična Neratovice (Neratovice Forest Educational Exercise Trail) comprises six stations on the edge of the Skala grove, along a green-marked walking trail between Lobkovice and Kojetice. Each station has a QR code with nature-related questions that change monthly. The facility thus combines fixed stations with changing questions along the trail—a practical way for anyone out walking to explore nature-related topics too.
Swimming and Other Activities
The Neratovice outdoor swimming pool has a newly renovated non-swimmer pool with water features and a slide. There is also a new paddling pool with water features. In addition to swimming, visitors can enjoy mini golf, table tennis and other games; the necessary equipment is available to borrow. Facilities may change over time, so check the latest information about what is available before visiting.
Pískovna Mlékojedy is also a popular swimming spot in summer. Check the swimming conditions on site. The two swimming destinations have different offerings: the outdoor pool has pools as well as games and equipment available to borrow, while Pískovna is described as a seasonal swimming spot.
Lobkovice and Palacký
Lobkovice brings together the Elbe landscape and the history of the Palacký family. The family used the village as a summer residence and found time to relax on walks along the Elbe. The tomb of František Palacký is in the grounds of the church in Lobkovice. He spent part of his life in a nearby castle in Lobkovice and wrote part of his important historical work there. Walks along the river and these historical connections each give Lobkovice a distinctive link to a stay on the Elbe.
