Obrubce Between Cultural History and Nature

Obrubce offers travellers several distinct points of interest: a protected cemetery church, mixed woodland to the west and south, and a railway line that runs through the village. In Všeborsko, historic architecture and sculpture take centre stage. You can therefore consider cultural history, nature and practical travel planning as distinct aspects of choosing your destination.

Church History and Sculpture

The protected cemetery church has a Gothic core and was remodelled in the Baroque style in the 18th century. These two building phases give you a concrete starting point for placing its architecture in time: the Gothic core and the later Baroque features belong to different periods.

In Všeborsko, the church was originally dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius; since 1677, it has been dedicated to the Holy Trinity. This change of dedication is a separate point of reference for understanding its history. This should be distinguished from the dating of the Holy Trinity group, a Baroque sculptural work from 1721.

The restored Holy Trinity group stands in front of the cemetery entrance in Všeborsko, beneath mature horse chestnut trees. It is an immovable cultural monument. When learning about the work, you can distinguish between several aspects: its location at the cemetery entrance, its restoration and its classification as a protected Baroque monument.

The Wooden Bell Tower and Its Traces of Time

The separate wooden bell tower in Všeborsko is a protected cultural monument. It dates from the mid-16th century and acquired its present appearance after a Baroque remodelling in 1721. The accessible bell was cast in Mladá Boleslav in 1662. These details refer to different dates and parts of the ensemble: the tower’s origins, the casting of the bell and the later remodelling of the building. You can therefore consider the building’s history and the detail of the bell separately, rather than reading all the dates as referring to the same event.

Woodland, Walks and Cycling

Mixed woodland lies to the west and south of Obrubce. It is said to be rich in mushrooms in summer; this seasonal aspect is one nature-related consideration when planning your stay. The area around Obrubce also offers opportunities to relax on walks and cycling trips. When planning your time outdoors, you can consider these two activities as distinct ways to spend your time.

Factor the Stop and Route Conditions into Your Plans

The Bakov nad Jizerou–Kopidlno railway line runs through Obrubce and has a stop there. If you plan to use the stop for your journey, check the timetable in advance for your travel date.

The Hájek castle site is located within the cadastral area of Obrubce; only an unmarked path leads to it. As trail conditions can change, check them before visiting.
