Odolena Voda brings together Baroque architectural heritage, the literary legacy of Vítězslav Hálek, protected landscapes, and walking and cycling routes. When planning your trip, you can choose what to focus on depending on whether you are particularly interested in architecture and biographies, nature, or a specific route.

Architectural Heritage and Literary Legacy

The Baroque Church of St. Clement was built by the Jesuit order between 1732 and 1735 on the site of an older church. It contains expressive paintings by the Jesuit Jan Kuben and is listed as an immovable cultural monument in Odolena Voda. Its construction date, predecessor building, and paintings give the church a distinctive historical and artistic character.

Odolena Voda Castle was created by converting a Renaissance fortress into a Baroque castle. It retains Renaissance vaults and Baroque furnishings. The Marian column in the town square dates from 1706 and was restored in 1923. These buildings reflect different historical periods: the former fortress, the Baroque conversion, and a dated monument in the town square.

Hálkovna is the house where Vítězslav Hálek was born on April 5, 1835. In the district of Dolínek, an exhibition of documents and images about the life and work of the Czech poet and prose writer is housed in his birthplace. These details link a specific birthplace with materials on Hálek’s biography and literary work.

The Jewish cemetery is also among the city’s historical sites: around 200 gravestones have been preserved there.

Protected Landscapes and Nature

The Vršky pod Špičákem Nature Reserve protects extensive areas of valuable dry grassland, as well as acidophilous vegetation with succulents and ephemerals. Dry grassland vegetation also grows on the former volcanic hill of Čenkov, providing refuge for numerous protected and endangered plant and animal species. Thus, the focus at Vršky pod Špičákem is on protected vegetation types, while the description of Čenkov also emphasizes its importance as a habitat.

Local waterscapes include Korycanský potok and the Čenkovské rybníky, a system of three ponds. The stream rises in the Dolínek area. In Malý háj, you can walk the Dřeviny Malého háje educational trail; conditions along the trail may change, so it is a good idea to check the latest information before planning your visit.

Swimming Area and Trails

Jordán is a natural swimming area at a shallow pond with a paved embankment. Swimming conditions may change, so check the latest information before your visit.

A 4.95-kilometer loop runs around Vodolka. Check its route against the current local signs. A 25-kilometer, white-marked cycling route starts at Horní náměstí. Surface and access conditions on this route may change, so factor the latest conditions into your plans. The routes differ significantly in length and type: you can choose between the specified loop and a longer cycling route.

Fajglovka is a combined walking and cycling path between the Aero Vodochody area and Odolena Voda. Check the latest conditions before using it. Together with the loop and the marked cycling route, it offers another way to plan an outing on foot or by bike, without conflating the different route details.
