Plužná: Village History, Hiking Trails and Cycling Routes
Accommodation in Plužná
Plužná lies about 10 km northwest of Mladá Boleslav. The village offers concrete points of interest to help you choose where to stay: a farming heritage, marked hiking trails and described cycling routes. You can therefore plan your stay around cultural history, a walk or a bike ride. The historic village layout and the route connections north and south of the village provide different points of reference.
Village Layout and Agricultural History
Plužná was first mentioned in a written record in 1337. In the 19th century and the early 20th century, it was a prosperous farming community shaped by prominent family farms. In the historic part of the village, the farmsteads are arranged perpendicular to an elongated central village axis. This layout and the inherited field pattern describe two distinct aspects of the village’s history: the axis organizes the farmsteads, while the landscape preserves traces of the original strip fields, known as Plužiny.
If you are interested in rural settlement patterns, it is worth looking at both features together. The farmsteads are not arranged arbitrarily in relation to the central axis; at the same time, the Plužiny tell the story of the historic division of farmland. This makes it possible to trace Plužná’s agricultural character both in the village layout and in the surrounding countryside.
Marked Trails and Nature
The route connections south and north of the village are described differently for those finding their way on foot. South of Plužná, a blue-marked hiking trail connects with a red-marked one. To the north, a marked hiking trail meets a yellow-marked trail and later a green-marked one. The compass directions help distinguish these connections: to the south, the connection between the blue and red trails is noted; to the north, the yellow trail is followed later by the green one. When planning a hike, you can treat these two areas as separate points of reference.
Plužná is also near deep forests. Another landscape feature is the reconstructed biotope at the water reservoir: it reopened in May 2026 and is intended for recreation, enjoying nature and communal gatherings. If you plan to visit, check current access options beforehand.
Cycling Routes and Events
There are also specific points of reference for route planning. Cycling route 0060, the Bělský Circuit, passes through Plužná at kilometer 12.5. The C10 cycling circuit from Bělá pod Bezdězem to Mnichovo Hradiště also passes through the village and then continues along cycling route 0060 toward Valdštejnsko. The kilometer marker locates Plužná on the Bělský Circuit; C10, by contrast, describes a circuit that passes through the village and then continues toward Valdštejnsko. Before setting out, check the route description for temporary conditions.
Pluženská Kolová is a recurring cycling event; its 26th edition took place in 2026. Poslední leč is also part of the annual events calendar and is one of two major annual events organized by Myslivecký spolek Plužná. Pluženská Noc is a traditional summer open-air event in Plužná. If you would like to combine your stay with an event, check the dates before making plans.
