Kuří: Hiking Trails and Local History
Accommodation in Kuří
Kuří can be considered from two perspectives when planning a trip: as the destination of a forest trail and as a landmark on another hiking route. There is also local history, with specific dates relating to the chapel, school, and memorial. If you are planning a stay, you can first consider whether you are more interested in green spaces or historical connections. The routes differ in their course and the landscapes they highlight.
Hiking Trails Through Forest and Stream Valley
The forest trail from Voděrádky to Kuří leads to a pond with a mill in Kuří. The route has the Czech name “cestou od mlýna k mlýnu” (“From Mill to Mill”). In the forest, the trail follows the Pitkovický potok and passes through varied natural landscapes. The route description was published in 2019; trail conditions may change. Check the condition of the route before setting out.
The trail is suitable for experienced walkers as well as for strollers designed for rough terrain. If you are planning to use a stroller, its suitability for rough terrain is an important consideration. The stated suitability applies to these conditions and not to every stroller in general.
Another hiking route leads from Dobřejovice via Nupaky and through the valley of the Pitkovický potok toward Kuří. Along the way, bridges and grassy paths run through the valley. The description was updated in 2022; here too, trail conditions may change. Check the route conditions before your hike.
The routes therefore offer different landscape highlights: forest and a pond with a mill at the destination on the trail from Voděrádky, and a stream valley, bridges, and grassy paths on the route from the direction of Dobřejovice. You can compare the routes described according to which landscapes interest you for a hike.
School, Chapel, and Memorial
The new school building in Kuří was formally dedicated on June 20, 1909. After its dedication, the school was not only a place of education but also played a significant role in the community’s social and cultural life. The former school in Kuří closed in 1969 because of the low number of pupils.
In 1903, the municipality built a chapel in Kuří. The foundation stone for the memorial to local people who fell in the World War was laid on September 28, 1921. Together, these historical references represent different themes: municipal construction, education, and remembrance. The dates help place the events mentioned in time without reducing them to a single chapter of local history.
Another Landmark
Cornův, Dolejší mlýn is secluded near Kuří. If you are planning a visit, check access arrangements in advance.
