If you are looking for a hotel in Třebovle, you can plan your trip around the area’s cultural history and educational trail. The historic centre is home to archaeological settlement traces and the Church of St Bartholomew complex; the Chapel of St John of Nepomuk adds a Baroque sculptural group to the picture. There is also a 20-kilometre route connecting several places. The following highlights will help you distinguish between local history, an annual religious event and planning a longer route.

Archaeology in the historic centre

The archaeological area in the historic centre of Třebovle contains settlement traces from the Linear Pottery culture, Bell Beaker culture, Lusatian culture and Knovíz culture, as well as from the transition from the late Middle Ages to the early modern period. This spans several named cultural periods and a much later historical transition. The area is located around Třebovle village square, on the road to Kouřim.

Church of St Bartholomew and pilgrimage Mass

The Church of St Bartholomew, the cemetery wall with its gate, and the bell tower are all part of a registered immovable cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The church itself is a remarkable early Gothic building, constructed towards the end of the second third of the 13th century. This construction date refers to the church; the protected complex also includes the other components listed above.

A pilgrimage Mass is held in the church once a year on the feast of St Bartholomew. If you plan to travel for the occasion, check the exact date locally before your trip.

Chapel of St John of Nepomuk

The Chapel of St John of Nepomuk represents a different period. Its Baroque sculptural group, made of red Nučice sandstone, is dated to 1727. Compared with the early Gothic church, this date points to a later period in art history.

Educational trail and bus connections

The Lipanská Mohyla Educational Trail connects Třebovle with Klášterní Skalice and passes through Lipany and Vitice; the route described is 20 kilometres long. This gives you a concrete distance to plan around, compared with a focus on local history; the route also takes in other places. Check local route conditions before planning.

Agriculture and Sázavský dvůr

Třebovle is predominantly agricultural. The history of Sázavský dvůr offers a glimpse of farmsteads: in 1772, Leandr Kramář, abbot of the nearby Sázavský klášter, bought two previously separate farmsteads and united them into a single complex, which has been called Sázavský dvůr ever since. The year 1772 marks this merger; it should be distinguished from the much earlier archaeological period in the historic centre.

The building of the Lower Farm (Dolní dvůr) at Sázavský dvůr is currently not open to the public. If you plan to include the building in your itinerary, check access locally in advance.
