Tachlovice offers several different starting points for planning a trip: churches and historic buildings, a geological theme, as well as tennis and a competition for historic vehicles. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Tachlovice, these interests can help you decide what to focus on during your trip. Local attractions range from 18th-century architectural history to a geological feature that bears the town’s name.

Churches, Chapel and Cemetery

The Church of St. James the Greater in Tachlovice was newly built and consecrated on 21 October 1742. It stands free-standing on the site of a Romanesque church. Two periods are therefore important to its architectural history: the earlier church on the site and the consecration of the newly built church in the 18th century.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows was first mentioned in 1745. It stands at the northern edge of Jakubská náves and is one of the oldest architectural monuments in Tachlovice. When Jakubská náves was renovated in 2016, the chapel was restored to its original appearance. These are two distinct milestones in its timeline: the chapel’s first mention and its restoration in 2016.

Tachlovice Cemetery also offers specific historical details. Its entrance is through a simple Baroque gate with a cornice divided by segmental forms. The cemetery also contains a pyramid-shaped gravestone dating from 1798. The gate and the gravestone offer different points of interest: one characterizes the cemetery entrance described here, while the other is a dated individual monument within the cemetery.

Geology and Local History

The Tachlovický zlom is an important geological anomaly named after Tachlovice. Fossils are another of the area’s geological features: they occur in limestone deposits in the Tachlovice area. The paleontologist Joachim Barrande made significant discoveries in the region. Here, a geological phenomenon named after Tachlovice, fossil-bearing limestone deposits and the region’s history of paleontology offer distinct points of interest.

Tennis and Historic Vehicles

TC Tachlovice has four clay courts and a tennis school. Offerings and availability may change. The Tachlovický trojúhelník competition for historic motorcycles and automobiles has been held since 1976 and is now considered a traditional and well-known event. These involve different considerations when planning a trip: for tennis, current availability matters; for the competition, it is the specific event date. Check both in advance if they are important to your stay.

The Memorial Willow

The timeline is important when it comes to the Memorial Willow. A description from May 2024 records that around the turn of 2023/2024, the last branches bearing new growth broke off, leaving only a remnant of the trunk. As the situation may have changed, check its current condition before visiting.
