Tehov: Cultural History, Nature and Cycling
Accommodation in Tehov
Tehov brings together a range of options for a stay where you can choose how much emphasis to place on culture, activity and nature. Specific points of interest include the architectural history of the Church of St. John the Baptist, local events, the sports and bike park, and a route past two forest ponds. If you’re looking for a hotel in Tehov, considering these activities can help you narrow down your travel plans.
Cultural History and Events
The Church of St. John the Baptist was originally Gothic and underwent extensive Baroque renovations. For architecture enthusiasts, its striking feature is the change over time: its Gothic origins were followed by a comprehensive Baroque transformation. Its architectural history can therefore be viewed through two clearly defined periods.
The lime tree by the wayside shrines at U Křížku stands on a hill north of Tehov. In January 2017, it was declared a memorial tree of the Czech Republic. Its location and designation give the tree two distinct aspects: it is a landmark in the landscape north of the town and also a tree formally recognized as a memorial.
The Tehovský kulturní spolek organizes Christmas and Easter markets, a witch-burning event, a carnival and a dragon day. The program ranges from markets tied to specific seasons to other celebrations and a themed day. If you’d like a particular event to shape your trip, check its exact date before planning.
Treasure Hunt, Route and Bike Park
The treasure hunt “Putování Tehovem za pokladem” (Journey Through Tehov in Search of Treasure) starts at the school on the village square and ends on the village square as well. The “Okolo Tehova za přírodou i historií” (Around Tehov for Nature and History) route passes the two forest ponds, Jedlice and V Doubí. The activities differ in their stated landmarks: the treasure hunt starts and ends on the village square, while the two ponds are specific points along the route. You can weigh up whether you prefer an activity with a named start and finish or a path alongside forest ponds.
Tehov’s sports and bike park has a pump track with an integrated dirt-jump track. It is open to the public free of charge all year round; individual areas may close for maintenance. The dirt areas may also close after rain or for maintenance. Check municipal notices for temporary closures before your visit.
Farma Tehov and the Surrounding Area
Farma Tehov has a small dairy that processes milk from eight cows, as well as a self-service snack bar. We recommend confirming current arrangements in advance of your visit. The farm regularly holds open days and events for children. If one of these dates is important to your travel plans, check the current calendar.
In the area around Tehov, a shelter by the Jedlice pond offers a place to stop for a snack. It’s a specific place to take a break near the pond.
The settlement of Spojené osady Údolí Raků is also located near Tehov. It grew out of the neighboring settlements of Údolí Raků, Miriam and Zapomenutých, and continues to hold sports tournaments and races. This means the area around Tehov offers sporting events as well as cultural ones.
