When visiting Teptin, church architecture and the Ringhoffer Mausoleum are the main historical attractions. The architectural styles range from Early Gothic to Baroque, Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Gothic. For nature and leisure, the municipality of Kamenice provides a distinct setting: its landscape is characterised by forests, valleys along waterways and numerous ponds.

Churches, Tomb and Stone Cross

The Church of St. Francis Seraphicus is located in the cadastral area of Těptín in the municipality of Kamenice. Its origins are Early Gothic, and it was later remodelled in the Baroque style. Inside is the tomb of Archbishop Salm in the Empire style. The various elements can be clearly distinguished: Early Gothic describes the church’s origins, while the Baroque remodelling represents a later phase; the tomb introduces another style into the interior. Southwest of the church, a stone cross stands in a park. It was erected in 1810 at the expense of Archbishop Salm. It adds a separate, dated monument in an outdoor setting to the story of sacred architecture.

A direct comparison of styles makes the differences easy to see: the church’s Early Gothic origins are distinct from its Baroque remodelling; the chateau is in the English Neo-Gothic style, while the mausoleum combines Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance elements.

The chapel in the cemetery in Těptín is one of the monuments in the cadastral area of Těptín.

The Ringhoffer Mausoleum and Kamenice Chateau

The Ringhoffer Mausoleum was built between 1889 and 1893 to a design by the renowned architect Jiří Stibral. It combines Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Gothic forms and is regarded as a building of considerable architectural and sculptural value. Set in the wooded landscape below Zaječí vrch, it is connected to Kamenice Chateau by an avenue. The connection can also be understood in stylistic terms: both Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Gothic draw on historical styles. The mausoleum is closed to the public and can only be viewed through the gate or on special occasions when the gate is opened. Kamenice Chateau was rebuilt between 1875 and 1880 in the English Neo-Gothic style, replacing the original chateau; it is currently not open to the public.

Landscape and Leisure in the Municipality of Kamenice

Kamenice lies on the edge of the continuous Hornopožárské lesy forest area. The landscape within the municipality is highly varied, with characteristic valleys along waterways and numerous ponds. These include Štiřínský, Struhařovský, Mlýnský and Dvorský rybník. Almost half of the municipality’s area is forest. The ponds and valleys represent different landscape features: standing water on the one hand and waterways in the valleys on the other. The municipality of Kamenice has suitable terrain for hiking and cycling. Swimming, golf, mini golf and tennis are also offered as sports and leisure activities. Check individual facilities and their availability separately.
