For a stay in Třtice, you can explore its culture, landscape and activities through specific local attractions: the Church of St. Nicholas stands in the village centre, Bucek Pond lies within the cadastral area, and V Bahnách is a nature reserve. There is also a cycling route and events at different times of year.

Local history and the church

Třtice was inhabited as early as the Stone Age; the first written records date from the 14th century.

The Church of St. Nicholas stands on a slight rise in the village centre. It had its own parish priest as early as the 13th century. Originally Gothic, the church was rebuilt in the Baroque style after a fire in the second quarter of the 18th century. The building has a single nave; the 11-metre-long and 8-metre-wide nave is covered by a barrel vault. A barrel vault is an arched ceiling that runs lengthwise through a room. Gothic refers to the church’s original construction phase, while Baroque describes its later appearance after rebuilding.

Pond landscape and nature conservation

Bucek Pond, covering 24.5 hectares, lies within the cadastral area of Třtice. Two protected pedunculate oaks, each more than 400 years old, help stabilise the pond’s dam with their roots.

V Bahnách Nature Reserve is home to aquatic, wetland and meadow plant communities, as well as animal communities on peat and marsh soil. Rare, specially protected species include the round-leaved sundew and the common butterwort.

Cycling route and events

The 21-kilometre-long “Novostrašecko” cycling route No. 8192 passes through the cadastral areas of Řevničov, Třtice, Mšec, Mšecké Žehrovice and Nové Strašecí. Along the ponds, it crosses dams and follows the shores of Třtický, Bucký, Malá Punčocha, Velká Punčocha, Mlýnský, Pilský, Červený and Lodenický. Before setting out, check how the route is signposted and what the route conditions are like.
