For your trip planning, Vestec offers several distinct themes: trails by Vestecký rybník, avenues with their own distinctive features, a planetary trail and historical connections. If you are looking for hotels in Vestec, these highlights can help you organise your interests for your stay.

Trails by Vestecký rybník and tree-lined avenues

The educational planetary trail begins at the cycle-path junction by Vestecký rybník. It runs for 1.4 km and features information panels about all the planets in the solar system. The route also includes a planetarium climbing structure depicting the most common constellations. The panels and structure thus bring together two topics related to the sky: planets and constellations. The recreational area by Vestecký rybník also includes a jetty and several viewing pontoons.

Alej svobody leads from Vestecký rybník towards Hrnčíře, following an old farm track. It is also part of the yellow-marked KČT hiking trail between Kunratice and Průhonice. As trail markings can change, check the current signage before setting out. The avenue is lined with fruit trees of old Czech varieties; at its beginning, there is also a flower meadow, wooden boardwalks and seating.

Another tree-lined avenue is Alej prince Philipa, with 100 lime trees along the cycle path towards Kunratice, by the retention basin. A Poesiomat was unveiled there in October 2022. It recites poems, sings and shares interesting facts about Vestec. As the condition of the installation can change, it is advisable to check its current status before visiting.

Trees and historical connections

The Dendrologická stezka Vestec, introduced in 2024, runs through different parts of the municipality and showcases 15 trees. QR codes provide descriptions of their significance and uses; the number of documented trees may grow. By comparison, the planetary trail is 1.4 km long, while the dendrological route covers several parts of the municipality. This offers a choice between two different spatial approaches: a trail of a set length or a route exploring tree-related themes in different parts of Vestec.

Vestec was first mentioned in writing around 1360, then under the name “villa Beska” and in connection with the royal castle of Kostelec n/Sázavou, whose domain included the settlement. From 1700, Vestecký rybník, together with the municipality, belonged to the Dolní Břežany estate, which was administered by the Prague Archbishopric. The pilgrimage tradition also continues in a changed form.

Plan your visit times and arrangements

As part of its regular open days, Komunitní zahrada Vestec is open to the general public every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A traditional sale of farm products also takes place there. Confirm the current schedule before travelling.

Sportovní centrum TJ Viktoria Vestec is open to the public. At certain times, it can be made available by arrangement for school, sports, social and commercial use. If you are considering such use during your stay, confirm the times and arrangements in advance, as conditions may change.
