Dvůr Králové Nad Labem offers a range of reasons to stay: safari rides, nature trails, cycling history and cultural monuments each provide a different focus. If you are looking for a hotel, this selection can help you plan your stay around the activities that interest you.

Safari and other experiences

At Safari Park Dvůr Králové, you can visit the “Josef Vágner African Safari” and “Lion Safari” attractions by Africa truck, safari bus or your own car. The vehicle safari covers a route of about 5.5 kilometres. Driving your own car among African animals is a unique opportunity in the Czech Republic.

Some safari options operate seasonally. Before your trip, check which option is available on your visit date. Tyršovo koupaliště is also a seasonal destination: its swimming pool is 50 metres long. Check its operating period before your visit.

For trips on the Elbe, Jedu Labe rents out rafts and canoes. During a tour of the Christmas ornament factory, you can learn how Christmas ornaments are blown and decorated by hand. Along with boat trips, this offers an opportunity to discover a traditional craft.

Bicycles and nature trails

The bicycle exhibition in Žireč displays historic bicycles and velocipedes, including bikes from the First Republic as well as wartime and racing bicycles. You can try a penny-farthing trainer or rent a rickshaw for a ride through the park. The Elbe Cycle Route passes through the Baroque grounds in Žireč, adding a route through the site to the cycling theme.

The Parkem Schulzovy sady nature trail runs through the Schulzovy sady city park. It is more than 750 metres long and uses interactive features to share information about Czech wildlife and plants. The route is suitable for walks with a stroller and for school trips.

At Na Felčarské cestě, a two-kilometre circular trail starts at the lower gate of the municipal cemetery, follows the cemetery to the “U Landů” forestry lodge, and returns through the forest to the starting point. Ten stops with educational and interactive features line the route. Another nature trail, Údolím Hartského potoka, is less than two kilometres long and begins at the gate of the municipal hospital. Its stops and facilities include information boards, games, a long-jump pit and a seating area by a fire pit.

On the nearby Na Stráni nature trail, information boards and interactive features explain which animals and plants are found in the forest and surrounding area, and how to behave in nature. For more routes, Stezky Dvorem a okolím comprises eight trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels. They are intended for walking, dog walking, running and family outings with a stroller.

The Stezky Dvorem a okolím map shows the routes, elevation profiles and QR codes. It also gives recommendations on trail conditions in hot summer weather and after rain. Trail conditions can change; take the weather guidance into account when choosing a route and check the current conditions before setting out.

Culture and history

The self-guided tour of the town’s cultural monuments is 1.7 kilometres long and leads to historically significant sites in Dvůr Králové Nad Labem. Its stops include the Davidova hvězda memorial at the site of the former Jewish synagogue. The Church of St. John the Baptist is Gothic and was built on the site of an earlier Romanesque church.

A historical exhibition at Městské muzeum Dvůr Králové nad Labem covers the history of the town and the textile industry of the Královédvorsko region. This offers a way to explore the town’s history and the region’s industrial history as distinct topics.

The Bitva u Dvora Králové nad Labem nature trail focuses on the street fighting between Austrian and Prussian troops in 1866 in Dvůr Králové nad Labem. At 29 kilometres, it is considerably longer than the town tour; it also includes 16 stops and two branches. The two routes therefore differ both in length and in their historical focus.
