Schwarzenbach combines a long local history with cultural themes rooted in specific places and dated events. The first written historical mention of the municipality of Černava dates back to 1489. When planning your trip, it is helpful to distinguish this historical context from individual event dates. If you are looking for a hotel in Schwarzenbach, plan your travel dates around the focus of your visit.

History shaped by transport, raw materials, and agriculture

The mention in 1489 provides a point of departure in time. Černava’s growth in the late 19th and early 20th centuries was linked to the industrialization of nearby Neudek, the construction of new transport routes, and additional employment opportunities created by the opening of several quarries in the surrounding area. High-quality granite was quarried at Rájec and Kobelec; quartz for glassmaking was also extracted in the Černava area. This links the area’s development to nearby Neudek, while the quarries and quartz mining reflect local raw-material extraction. Agriculture is also part of the historical picture: in addition to grain and potatoes, cabbage was grown near Černava. Work, transport, and cultivation thus add concrete aspects of economic life to the early written mention.

The chapel on the Černava–Suchá road

The “za kapličkou” forest complex is located by the chapel on the Černava–Suchá road. The chapel was built sometime between about 1910 and 1920. After 1960, only its foundations remained; in 1992, it was restored on those original foundations, but at a considerably lower height than before. Its construction history therefore comprises several clearly distinguishable phases: its construction, the survival of its foundations, and its lower-height reconstruction. This preserved the connection to the original foundations, while the restored chapel was considerably lower.

Dated program and local event history

Den pro Černavu 2026 was scheduled for September 5, 2026, at the large football field in Černava. As an all-day event for the general public, it was due to run from 9 a.m. until about 11 p.m. The announced program included human table football, Kin-Ball, and a mini music festival. Performances by 9. Planeta, Pjena, and Tajfun, as well as free admission, were also announced. The municipality noted that plans could change. The date has now passed.

Another dated example was the parade “Fantazie bez hranic!” scheduled for May 1, 2026: it was due to take place at 1:30 p.m. at KD Rájec, Rájec 38, Černava. The pond in Kobelec was designated as the traditional meeting point for the same day at 1:30 p.m. A historical parade in 2017 went from Černava to Rájec. Martin rode a horse and led a group of small glowing mountain spirits through the forest. These dates have now passed and offer different insights into local event announcements and storytelling traditions.

When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between a stay focused on history and a trip to attend a particular festival. If an event is the reason for your visit, check the date for your intended travel dates before booking a hotel.
