When planning a trip to Černousy, you can start by deciding whether you are more interested in architectural history or the landscape. Zámecký dvůr Černousy, with its former administrative role, tells the story of the Frýdlant estate; Dubový rybník offers a specific point of interest in the landscape. The Meandry Smědé protected area is another natural attraction. These subjects are quite different—from a historic building complex to a pond with known facts and a protected area that preserves a stretch of river and its ecosystems.

Historic Administrative Seat and Cultural Heritage

Count Filip Josef Clam-Gallas had Zámecký dvůr Černousy built in 1793, probably on the site of a similar older structure. The complex served as the administrative seat for the northern part of the Frýdlant estate. This role gives the site a specific place in history: the complex was part of the estate’s administration. Since 1958, it has been a listed immovable cultural monument.

The two granaries also tell of the site’s different uses. One was converted into a covered riding arena. A multipurpose hall was created in the other and named the 2015 Monument of the Year for the Liberec Region. This means two different transformations of historic buildings can be seen side by side: one granary repurposed as a riding arena, and the hall in the other granary receiving an award. If you are choosing what to explore, this offers another way to appreciate the complex, alongside its former administrative role.

Another cultural point of interest is the Church of Saint Lawrence in Ves (Černousy). It is a Late Gothic church. This period distinguishes it from the history of Zámecký dvůr: here, the architectural style takes center stage, whereas the manor complex is defined above all by its role as an administrative seat and the later use of individual buildings.

Pond and Protected River Landscape

Dubový rybník in Černousy covers 12 hectares and is one of the largest and oldest ponds in the Frýdlantsko region. It is accessible at any time, and admission is free. Exceptionally large pedunculate and red oaks grow along the dam. This combines a clear figure for the pond’s size with a specific feature of the waterside landscape. If you are including nature in your travel plans, you can take in both the pond’s regional importance and the striking trees along the dam.

The Meandry Smědé protected area preserves a stretch of river with a natural riverbed, developing meanders and oxbow lakes. It protects forest, aquatic, wetland and floodplain ecosystems, with near-natural communities and numerous plant and animal species protected by law. Unlike Dubový rybník, which is specified as covering 12 hectares, the focus here is on the river course, its habitats and their protection. This comparison helps you distinguish between two different natural attractions: a pond with a specific size and a protected area whose description covers river formations and ecosystems.

Transport Information for Your Plans

A railway line runs through Černousy, and the village also has a railway stop and a bus stop. This information can help you plan your journey, but it does not replace checking the specific connection. Check the timetable before setting off, as schedules can change.
