Farmstead No. 5 offers a tangible connection to the folk architecture of the central Pojizeří region, while Posezení pod lipami is an event tied to specific dates. If you would like to plan your trip around a gathering, check the date for your travel year.

Folk Architecture at Farmstead No. 5

The rural Farmstead No. 5 in Soběslavice belongs to the group of so-called large Pojizerské farmsteads and is an example of the folk architecture of the central Pojizeří region. The house is a two-storey wooden building with a typical three-part chamber-and-stable layout. These features describe different aspects of its construction: wood refers to the building material, the two storeys to its height, and the chamber-and-stable type to the arrangement of the floor plan. Its group classification places it in a regional context, while the details about its materials and floor plan describe the individual house.

The farmstead also includes a so-called beseda, a feature not found elsewhere in this region. It adds a distinctive element to its classification as rural folk architecture. In this way, its place within a regional building group sits alongside a special feature of the individual homestead.

Chapels and Local Traditions

The U Jáníčka Chapel in Soběslavice dates from 1834 and is designated as a small sacred monument. In Padařovice, there is a chapel dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. The U Jáníčka Chapel is described in terms of its year of construction and monument designation, while the chapel in Padařovice is identified by its dedication. The two chapels can therefore be distinguished by different details: date, monument status and dedication.

Two old local traditions associate Prince Soběslav with the area. According to one, he founded Soběslavice; another says he built a fortified castle on the site of today’s House No. 9. The first story concerns the founding of the village, while the second refers to the site of a specific house. Both accounts remain legends; by contrast, the year 1834 is the actual construction date of the U Jáníčka Chapel.

Šimonova borovice and a Local Gathering

Šimonova borovice is about 200 years old and was declared a protected memorial tree in 1993. The details are given with different degrees of precision: its age is an estimate, while 1993 is the year it was designated. The tree is therefore described by both an approximate age and a dated protection status.

Posezení pod lipami took place in Padařovice in both 2024 and 2026. The musical programme included the brass band Plechařinka and the country group Bodlák. If you would like to combine your trip with this gathering, check the event date for your travel year.
