If you are considering Baška as a travel destination, the Baška Reservoir and its marked trails are the main factors shaping your choice of activities. There are also St. Wenceslas Church, local chapels and events of very different kinds. Trail lengths range from a lakeside walk of about three kilometres to a 21-kilometre moderate loop. When planning your trip, you can first decide whether you would rather focus on relaxing by the water, taking a walk, hiking or exploring local history.

Relaxing at the Baška Reservoir

The Baška Reservoir is primarily a place for recreation. Swimming and water sports are available, but the reservoir is not intended as a source of drinking water. A walking path about 3 km long runs along the shores and offers views of the surrounding landscape.

Walking paths and hiking routes

For a longer hike, the marked “To the Most Beautiful Sunsets” loop passes the Baška Reservoir and Baška railway station. It is 21 kilometres long and rated moderate. The loop passes both of these landmarks, making it different in length and layout from the lakeside walking path. Another distance to consider is that of the “Okolo Bašky cestička” tourist hike: one edition was 14 km long, and the route length can vary between editions. This edition falls between the lakeside walking path and the 21-km loop in length. Since the distance may vary by edition, check the route length for the specific edition when planning your trip.

Churches and local tradition

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Wenceslas in Baška is a filial church of the Skalice parish. It was consecrated on 22 October 1933. It was built through the dedication of members of the St. Wenceslas Church Association, who made generous sacrifices. The consecration links the church to a precisely dated event; its construction history and parish affiliation add to its historical and religious significance. A chapel near the “Kotva” restaurant was reconstructed and consecrated at a local ceremony. The chapel at Radovým is also associated with a local tradition: according to legend, it was built at a site where a church once stood. Different forms of evidence matter to local history here: St. Wenceslas is associated with a precisely dated consecration and a named building initiative, while the former church site at Radovým remains part of a legend.

Events in Baška

The 22 August 2026 edition of Baška Žije was scheduled as a one-day music festival on the shores of the Baška Reservoir, from 14:00 to 24:00; it was the fourth edition. If you would like to include a later edition in your travel plans, check its date. The 2026 edition of GulášFest was set to feature public tastings of non-competitive goulash dishes, followed by a public vote and the decision of a professional jury. The event format may change in later editions.
