Bílov offers several distinct themes for a stay: the history of St. Lawrence Church, the observation tower’s platform, water structures, and trails with named directions. This makes it possible to get to know the place through a range of cultural and landscape features.

St. Lawrence Church and its construction history

St. Lawrence Church was originally made of wood. Between 1709 and 1731, it was rebuilt in stone. This distinguishes two construction phases: the early wooden structure and the later stone reconstruction. As a protected cultural monument, the church has been protected since May 3, 1958. Its construction history and protection date offer different points of reference if you are interested in the historic buildings of the area.

Observation tower: height and access

At the Bílov observation tower, the total height of the tower and the height of the platform are two different measurements. The tower is 62.50 meters high; its observation platform is 26.25 meters above the ground. An external steel staircase with 137 steps leads to the platform. These details describe both the height of the structure and the specific means of access to the viewpoint.

Water reservoirs and structures in Hubleska

The small “BÍLOV-HUBLESKA” water reservoir was built by the municipality of Bílov in 2001. In the Hubleska grove, above the villa, there is a revitalized pond. The villa was built by Jindřich Salcher, one of the founders of the MASSAG factory and a former owner of the Massag company. Today, it is a residential building. This structure thus combines its historic connection to Salcher with its current use as a residence.

The Paseky water reservoir can be identified by its design and features: it is a flow-through reservoir with an earth dam, an outlet structure, and a spillway. While the year the BÍLOV-HUBLESKA reservoir was built by the municipality is a specific reference point, the type of reservoir and its structural components are the main features of Paseky. These different characteristics help distinguish the two water structures without conflating them into a single place.

Cycling and hiking routes in different directions

The municipal strategic plan for 2022–2030 mentions the 25-kilometer cycling route No. 6039, “Rodištěm S. Freuda,” which passes through Bílov. A nature trail with Stations of the Cross also runs from the Hubleska water reservoir through Bílov toward the castle and museum in Studénka. A red-marked hiking route runs from Bílovec to Fulnek, around the Hubleska water reservoir. The stated reference points for these routes differ: the cycling route has a total length, the nature trail starts at the Hubleska reservoir, and the red-marked route has its endpoints in Bílovec and Fulnek. If you are including the trails in your travel plans, these details will help you distinguish between the different routes.

The Boží muka wayside shrine is located at the edge of Bílov in the direction of Fulnek. Along with St. Lawrence Church, it adds to the selection of religious structures: the church is characterized by its construction history and protected status, while the shrine’s location in the direction of Fulnek is its specific point of reference.
