If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Bítov, your plans can help you decide what to focus on: are you particularly interested in cycling or hiking routes, woodland scenery, local traditions or the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk? Local points of interest include specific trails as well as landscape and cultural features that you can include in your travel plans according to your interests.

Forests and landscape

The forests that surround Bítov on almost all sides offer good conditions for picking mushrooms and wild fruit. If foraging is one of your interests, this is a specific way to connect with the local natural environment. At the Bítovský mlýn site and immediately below it, there is also a partly waterlogged, densely vegetated area that functions as a local biocentre or biocorridor. Thus, alongside the forests, the landscape also includes a particular damp and densely vegetated area.

In Vesník, the so-called I. Pond is the second pond in a cascade of four. The name “I. Pond” and its position in the cascade are not the same thing: it is second in the sequence.

Cycling and hiking

For cyclists, the more demanding, partly difficult Route 6192 passes through Bítov and connects Bílovec with a leisure complex on the Porubka. Bear in mind the stated level of difficulty if you include this route in your tour plans.

The Bílovecká padesátka hiking route follows the yellow-marked trail from the chapel below Bítov, through Bítov, and on to the Údolí Seziny. This gives you different details to consider when choosing a route: for the cycling route, the difficulty and the connection between Bílovec and the leisure complex are important; for the hiking route, the trail markings and the route from the chapel through the village to the valley are key.

Chapel and local history

The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, built before 1880, stands in the centre of Bítov. Mass is celebrated there once a month. This central location thus brings together a historic building and regular religious life. A parish newsletter also reported in 2017 that a new Stations of the Cross had been created leading to the chapel.

There was also a fortified settlement in the cadastral area of Bítov. Based on the place name Hradisko, it is thought to have stood between the village and the former Bítov mill; its exact location has not yet been established. The chapel’s central location is known, while the precise position of the fortified settlement remains uncertain.

Local traditions and getting there

Rybí hody is a recurring local festival held in Vesník near Bítov. If you would like to include the festival in your travel plans, check the date before you arrive. Egg roasting, locally called “snožky,” is a tradition in Bítov passed down by parents and grandparents. A recurring festival and an inherited local practice thus offer two distinct cultural connections.

The regional network overview lists the stops on line 884692 as Bílovec, Bítov, Těškovice and Slatina, followed by the return to Bílovec. Check the current regional bus timetable before travelling. This will help you distinguish the listed route sequence from specific departure times.
