Frenstat Pod Radhostem offers a range of options to consider when planning your trip: a hiking trail to a lookout tower, a circular route on the HoreÄŤky, ski jumping history, as well as a museum, church and aquapark. The details can help you choose the focus of your stay and plan excursions around specific interests. The hiking trails differ in their starting points and destinations; cultural visits focus on architecture and exhibitions.

Hiking and Viewpoints

The Beskydské nebe educational trail is on the Horečky, on the border between Frenštát pod Radhoštěm and Trojanovice. It has eight stops and an 85-meter-long accessible treetop walkway that is open seasonally. If this section of the trail is important to your plans, check when it is open before your visit.

The educational trail is designated for hiking and cycling. The 3.4-kilometer route starts and ends at the parking lot by the ski jumping hill. The green-marked hiking trail to the lookout tower on Velký Javorník offers a different starting point: it begins at Frenštát pod Radhoštěm railway station and leads directly to the tower. The information therefore clearly distinguishes between the starting points and destinations: the educational trail emphasizes returning to the parking lot, while the Velký Javorník route starts at the railway station and ends at the lookout tower.

Frenštát pod Radhoštěm Town Hall Tower also serves as a lookout tower and offers views of the Beskydy panorama. It is usually opened to the public during the tourist season. Check seasonal access before your visit.

Ski Jumping History on the HoreÄŤky

The ski jumping complex on the Horečky was established in the 1960s. The first hill was built in 1968 and is classified as K = 43 m; two more hills, with K = 72 m and K = 90 m, were added in 1969. This makes it possible to distinguish the complex’s development from the later start of its competition tradition. According to the municipal account, regular GRAND PRIX ski jumping competitions began in 1973.

In Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, Jiří Raška is associated above all with the complex on the Horečky and its ski jumping hills. The facilities and competition tradition give the town a distinct sporting heritage focus, separate from its hiking and cultural offerings.

Church and Museum

The Church of St. Martin in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm is listed as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and is regularly used for services, concerts and other events. Architecturally, it is a single-nave building with Baroque influences, a projecting square tower and an onion dome. The Rococo furnishings are also among the church’s described features.

The Frenštát pod Radhoštěm Museum has nine exhibitions on its different floors. The ground floor has three exhibition halls for temporary exhibitions, lectures and audiovisual programs. Visits are possible without a guide, and texts are also available in foreign languages. This lets you choose between exploring independently and attending the changing programs in the exhibition halls. As visitor offerings may change, check the museum’s current information before your visit.

Frenštát Aquapark

Frenštát Aquapark has a multi-purpose pool and a heated swimming pool. Facilities also include refreshments, seating and a volleyball court. A children’s pool complements the pool areas. The slides have two different sets of dimensions: one is 60 meters long and 5.8 meters high; the two-lane waterslide has a slide length of 13.1 meters. Facilities and seasonal operations may change, so it is advisable to check the current information before your visit.
