Malenovice is a starting point for climbing Lysá hora. Alongside the summit, natural attractions, marked trails, geological features and a local tradition offer a range of themes to explore on a trip. Lysá hora reaches 1,323 m and is the highest peak in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids and the Těšín region. It lies within the cadastral area of the municipality of Malenovice. For orientation, it is worth considering the summit climb, nature trail, waterfall section and local tradition as separate topics.

Lysá hora and Marked Trails

The Lysá hora nature trail has 15 stations with information about municipalities, mountain accidents, caves, predators, Wallachians, woodcutters and mountain forests. The content can be broadly grouped into two perspectives: caves, predators and mountain forests represent nature and landscape topics; municipalities, Wallachians and woodcutters focus on people and activities in the mountain world. Thus, in addition to its connection with Lysá hora, the trail offers a variety of themes.

Ondrášova skála, a large sandstone block, lies on the yellow-marked hiking trail from Malenovice to Lysá hora. Local lore links the rock to Ondráš being chosen as the leader of his band. Here, orientation along the marked trail is complemented by a local story.

Satina Waterfalls and Geology

The section of the Satina Waterfalls that is particularly attractive to visitors is about 1 km long and in places takes the form of a gorge about 15 m deep, with several waterfalls. These measurements describe different aspects: the length of the section and the depth of the gorge at certain points. For comparison, the figure of 1,323 m refers to the summit elevation of Lysá hora, not to a hiking destination at the waterfall.

The Malenovický kotel Nature Reserve encompasses the valley of the Satina stream and the adjacent western and northern slopes of Lysá hora and Malchor. It therefore includes both the stream valley and the neighboring slopes of the two mountains.

Ondrášovy díry comprise a 250 m-long system of fissure passages and domes, up to 30 m deep. Ondrášovy díry are inaccessible because of the risk of falling rocks and debris.
